Topic: What are your WLS worries or fears?
What are your weight loss surgery worries or fears? I know I'm not alone with these feelings, especially as July 8th (my surgery date) gets closer.
We all must have them? I keep telling myself everything will be okay...but these feelings still creep up on me. I'm talking about the "What if I fail?" "Am I making the right choice/decision?" "What IF something bad happens like a complication?" I'm sure there are other worries and/or fears...or maybe you have the same ones.
What are yours?

Topic: RE: Things to bring to the hospital
I intend to bring:
1.) a camera for those awful, yet fun before pics
2.) slippers, for when the staff makes me walk the halls post-op
3.) a robe, to cover my behind when walking the halls
4.) toiletries...deodorant, tooth-paste, hair brush, hair tie, etc...don't want to be stinky
5.) gas-X, my procedure will be laparoscopic so that will help with some gas pressure
6.) my laptop, so I can update everyone easier on how I'm doing post-op
7.) water bottles for the trip home (I live a few hours away and don't want to get dehydrated)
I plan on wearing loose clothing to the hospital and will just wear those back home. I intend to leave my wedding ring and other jewelry at home, just in case. I've heard of people bringing blankets or pillows from home for themselves or loved ones that might stay over night.
Hope that helps

Topic: RE: Started my 2 week liquid Pre-Op diet today
Hang in there! I completely understand what you are going through.
My surgery is on the 8th. The pre-op diet has been tough...and easily the toughest diet I've EVER been on! I had to quit most of my medications, including my medication for migraines. I was told I could have sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello in addition to my protien supplements. I have not had any popsicles, but I have had a serving or 2 of the jello just about every day! LOL I have been drinking a LOT of fluid (exceeding 64 ounces daily) but of course I am running to the bathroom a lot. I just keep reminding myself that "they" say the pre-op diet is the hardest part....and that I am doing this to "live" a healthier life. I do admit the first 3 or 4 days were the hardest...even cooking meals for the family or smelling the BBQ didn't bother me this weekend!
It will get easier, even if your stomach continues to complain in protest

Topic: RE: Who's started their pre-op diet?
Only a few days of the pre-op diet left. It's been going good for the most part, except for the roaring stomach and digestive issues. I constantly feel sooooooo HUNGRY!!!
Now the scale is proving once again my enemy. As of Friday, I've lost 10 pounds...in the morning. The next evening I weighed myself and the scale said I gainded 3 pounds. Talk about a cruel punishment Hopefully it's jus****er weight since I noticed my rings are tight on my fingers today. I suppose I need to just hide or throw out the scale...since my body has always done this stupid yo-yo thing from day to day and discourages me. sigh........

Topic: Started my 2 week liquid Pre-Op diet today
I began my 2 week liquid pre-op diet today and I must say, "I don't like it". I have had two 32 oz. protein shakes, loads of water, and chicken broth. I have a huge hunger headache and can only take Tylenol for it. I miss my Naproxen. This pre-op is difficult and take it one moment at a time. I am determined to make this work. This to shall pass. I can't wait until July 18th. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have this surgery. Time for me to stop whining and move forward.

7 days down, 7 days to go.
Surgery scheduled July 11
I'm surviving much better than I thought.
Carnation Instant Breakfast, blue box, has been a life saver.
I can't stand any of the other protein drinks that I've tried.

I have surgery scheduled for July 6th.I started my liquid diet on June 22nd.I have to say not as bad as I thought it would be.3 protein shakes a day.I use Body Fortress from Walmart. Not too bad.I cooked alot of food ahead of time and froze so husband had meals and I did not have to cook.I have cooked a few times and did not really bother me.I am just so nervous about the surgery and do not know why.Have had other surgeries throughout my life for different things and never been this nervous. The only problem I have had with the 2 week liquid diet is constipation. Not sure if from the dairy mixed with protein shake or what.Have started taking miralax daily and a stool softener
Topic: Things to bring to the hospital
Hey All,
I can't believe that I can actually say that my VSG surgery date is one week away!! I was wondering what were some items people brought with them to the hospital for their surgery. Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated!
