Congrats on getting a surgery date! You'll be on the loser's bench before you know it
Topic: RE: Surgery Tomorrow!
I wish I saw this earlier but by now you are probably out of surgery. I pray you did well and wish you a speedy, yet healthy recovery
As you know I had surgery last week on the 8th. I was made to get up and walk within a couple of hours after my surgery. I paced myself, but continued to walk a little further each time I got up...which was about every 2 to 4 hours. I believe I had a different procedure than you. I'm a DS patient. I think you are a RNY patient? My procedure was done laproscopically and I had a 2 night stay in the hospital. I was told I could have stayed anywhere from 1 to 3 nights. I'm still not up to going out to do anything, but I do feel better a little more each day than the day before.

By now you are probably already out of surgery. I'm sure you did great! Remember to walk and get your fluids in as much as you can the first few days post-op, as they say they help and the first few weeks are the worst with any procedure.
I'm only a week out myself and still working on getting enough fluids and walking each day. I also second guessed myself. What if I was choosing the wrong procedure for me? What if something "bad" happened? Couldn't I just diet and exercise again? Honestly I've even second guessed myself since I've had surgery. Was this really worth it (cause of the pain and I developed thrush)? Can I do this(trying to get in enough protein)? What was I thinking (why didn't i just diet)? I think having those feelings and thoughts are normal...and if they're not know that at least your not alone
Congrats on your surgery and wishes towards a healthy recovery!

Topic: RE: Who's started their pre-op diet?
You can make it! I quit smoking a year ago. I also had to stop taking my migraine meds pre-op. I'm about a week post-op now and never thought I was even gonna get through the pre-op stuff! lol
Don't beat yourself up over how things are going with your hubby. I'm sure you are not the first nor the last person to have those feelings. You really need to focus on these issues now since you don't want it causing problems later. You have to remember even though you are having WLS everyone around you will be affected too. I suggest trying to talk to him about how you feel, again talk no yelling or placing blame that will make things worst. Offer to cook him meals for now a couple times a week if that is something you usually do or to pre-make meals for him in advance like someone else mentioned. If you weren't much of a cook before I can understand your getting upset for him asking. One thing I told my husband and family was that I promised to still cook post-op but told them the kind of meals I will make are going to change according to my diet needs. If they want something different, maybe on a rare occasion or once a month I might make them that. They agreed, as long as they knew I was still going to be doing the cooking :) lol My husband still ate fast food and ordered pizza for him and the kids while I was doing my 2 weeks liquid pre-op diet. You just have to look at it as you are doing this for a healthier you...and not get upset when they have those things....that and that's 1 time you don't have to cook!
Good luck with your surgery!

Topic: RE: Do you have a WLS relative/spouse/friend?
My boyfriend's dad, brother and sister in law and their daughter (his niece) all had various ones. Their support has been wonderful! I told them before I told my own family (except for kids). My surgery was July 5. July 4 is his mom's birthday so everyone goes there. Being with them was great support!

Well today is day two of my liquid diet and it's going ok, I'm so thankful for the Bariatric Meal Replacements they really are a help to me!!! Surely I can tough it out until the surgery date of the 20th of this month!!
I'm having the gastric bypass.

My surgery is July 18th (eekkk 4 days to go). I have been hell on wheels and a total pill since starting my pre opp diet on 7/5. My only pre-op diet instructions were 20-30 cards a day. I've stayed around 22. I also had to stop taking my migrane meds and smoking, so that contributes as well.
My husband is not being supportive at all considering that he sits beside me eating popcorn and going through drive thrus when we go out plus he expects me to cook for him. After reading some of the posts here, I guess maybe I am the unreasonable one thinking he shouldn't ask me to cook. I should have prepared and froze foods for him like someone else mentioned. I can't wait to get this pre op diet behind me.
Good luck everyone :)
