Who's started their pre-op diet?
I have surgery scheduled for July 6th.I started my liquid diet on June 22nd.I have to say not as bad as I thought it would be.3 protein shakes a day.I use Body Fortress from Walmart. Not too bad.I cooked alot of food ahead of time and froze so husband had meals and I did not have to cook.I have cooked a few times and did not really bother me.I am just so nervous about the surgery and do not know why.Have had other surgeries throughout my life for different things and never been this nervous. The only problem I have had with the 2 week liquid diet is constipation. Not sure if from the dairy mixed with protein shake or what.Have started taking miralax daily and a stool softener
Only a few days of the pre-op diet left. It's been going good for the most part, except for the roaring stomach and digestive issues. I constantly feel sooooooo HUNGRY!!!
Now the scale is proving once again my enemy. As of Friday, I've lost 10 pounds...in the morning. The next evening I weighed myself and the scale said I gainded 3 pounds. Talk about a cruel punishment Hopefully it's jus****er weight since I noticed my rings are tight on my fingers today. I suppose I need to just hide or throw out the scale...since my body has always done this stupid yo-yo thing from day to day and discourages me. sigh........

I started my pre-op liquid diet and all I can say is that it's a good thing I was inside for most of the day cuz I am hungry and it makes me angry :( nothing I do stops the hunger pangs but I am hoping it's just the first day and tomorrow will be better :( I can honestly say I actually thought for one moment was surgery worth this moment but my husband says not to give up a lifetime for a burrito - so true. Just got to make it 4 more days Lord help me.
I am on day three of liquid diet. Day two was the worst so far. I was no weak and irritable, I hurt all over. I called a freind who has had this done and she said more water and more protein. I woke up today feeling a lot better. Your body is fighting off all the junk I had put into it, so I guess I get what's coming to me, LOL. I also use the Body Fortress from Walmart, it tastes better than all the others and has 52 grams of protein in 1 scoop. I can't stand grainy stuff and it's not like that. I added a little istant coffee to my vanilla shake this morning and man does it taste good!!! Maybe I will have energy today. Good luck to all you July surgeries, mine in July 18th. Anyone else July 18th out there?
Gonna be like Daisy Duke
My surgery is July 18th (eekkk 4 days to go). I have been hell on wheels and a total pill since starting my pre opp diet on 7/5. My only pre-op diet instructions were 20-30 cards a day. I've stayed around 22. I also had to stop taking my migrane meds and smoking, so that contributes as well.
My husband is not being supportive at all considering that he sits beside me eating popcorn and going through drive thrus when we go out plus he expects me to cook for him. After reading some of the posts here, I guess maybe I am the unreasonable one thinking he shouldn't ask me to cook. I should have prepared and froze foods for him like someone else mentioned. I can't wait to get this pre op diet behind me.
Good luck everyone :)

You can make it! I quit smoking a year ago. I also had to stop taking my migraine meds pre-op. I'm about a week post-op now and never thought I was even gonna get through the pre-op stuff! lol
Don't beat yourself up over how things are going with your hubby. I'm sure you are not the first nor the last person to have those feelings. You really need to focus on these issues now since you don't want it causing problems later. You have to remember even though you are having WLS everyone around you will be affected too. I suggest trying to talk to him about how you feel, again talk no yelling or placing blame that will make things worst. Offer to cook him meals for now a couple times a week if that is something you usually do or to pre-make meals for him in advance like someone else mentioned. If you weren't much of a cook before I can understand your getting upset for him asking. One thing I told my husband and family was that I promised to still cook post-op but told them the kind of meals I will make are going to change according to my diet needs. If they want something different, maybe on a rare occasion or once a month I might make them that. They agreed, as long as they knew I was still going to be doing the cooking :) lol My husband still ate fast food and ordered pizza for him and the kids while I was doing my 2 weeks liquid pre-op diet. You just have to look at it as you are doing this for a healthier you...and not get upset when they have those things....that and that's 1 time you don't have to cook!
Good luck with your surgery!
