Topic: RE: newbie here, post op day 3
Hello everyone,
I hope I am not late to the thread, i just had durgery 5 days ago and today for the first time I am feeling better, still sore but a lot better compared to the past few days. I have not had any problems with taking any fuilds but yes with drinking fast. Its an old habbit I need to get rid of. I am starting to sip everything i drink. Has any of you experience some sort of numbness in your right leg when you lay down for bed??? I have been experiencing that ever since i got home and its starting to worry me. This coming monday will be my first day going to see the doctor after surgery and I can't wait.
May I ask what kind of surgery has everone here had done? I had the Lap band.

Hi,
Well today for the first time i am startng to feel better. I really thought that after surgery I would be able to go back to work within a few days but I was sooo wrong. I am glad I took the whole week to recover. I was gassy for the most part but then I started to feel some discomfort, i don't know if its the fact that I am still in the liquids diet and I miss food or what... in any case I hope tomorrow gets even better.
How are you feeling? were you nervous prior to surgery?

*raises hand* I too am July 29th. Well, as long as they can get my blood pressure to go down before then. Apparently it's too high. The anesthesiologist said he'd not do surgery on me w/ it being as high as it is.
I didn't even know I had high blood pressure again until today. It's been running 120-130/70-90 for the last year. Today it was 187/116.
Eeek!
Good luck! I want to keep in touch so we can all share our stories.

Hi there, my name is Elyse nd I will be in 7/29. I gained 110 lbs because I hurt my knee. I'm scared too but we are doing the right thing. I will be here to give you courage! WE CAN DO THIS! If we can give birth, this should be the motivation for a healthy life with the kids... Muahhhz!

If your not scared then there has to be something wrong. I'm scared, but I'm more scared of not being able to take care of my son. I think its important for us to set the example of a healthy lifestyle for the kids. My poor son is fed some of the weirdest food for a 2yr old because I'm scared all he will want to eat is junk food. He eats calamari, su****hai, tofu, ect because of my paranoia. Things will work out. You understand what your getting yourself into and I think that helps. Just think by Christmas we should all be at least 50lbs lighter. YEAH!!!

i just said some prayers for you that all goes well tomorrow morning (when you read this it'll have passed, i'm sure) and praying that your recovery goes well, also.
I imagine the night before is going to be very hard for me, too.

I am also scheduled to have surgery on the 29th of July. Everytime doubt starts to creep in, I just keep reminding myself of how quickly the years go by and how fabulous I will be in 2011! I have 2 beautiful boys ages 10 & 12 and they worry about me, but I cant wait to be a more healthy active Mom and most of all to not HATE shopping for clothing anymore.
I especially look forward to next year, when we take pictures at special events, I want to be able to have the confidence to take a photo without "hiding" behind one of my boys. I just keep picturing how wonderful 2011 will be and so should you when the doubt creeps in!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am feeling a little better now. I am have the RNY surgery on Friday, July 23rd and I am starting to get nervous. I am glad that I'm not the only that struggled through the pre-op diet. During the week was okay because I work long days, but the weekend was tough. I struggled but I made it with only eating a few frozen peas. I did lose 20 pounds on the pre-op diet but I don't know how. I am excited about my new life to come also. Good luck and stay healthy!
