Topic: RE: RNY July 29th & thought I was ready, but so scared now
I think fear is a common feeling  before surgery. I also am having rny on the 29.
I just try to reassure myself that I have done my research, have a great doc, and know that if I could have lost the weight and kept if off, I would have done it by now. I am 44 and want to be able to enjoy the rest of my life without being held back by this wall of fat.
Hang in there.

Topic: RE: Gas and bloating - post op question
Hi,  The gas after surgery is painful.  Walking helped some, but I was constantly aware of it.  Once I got home,  I found that kneeling on the floor on my hands and knees helped to push the gas out.  Since the gas isn't technically in your stomach, I don't know if gas-x or tums will help.

Welcome to the site!  I have been on here for several months, and it's wonderful!  I have learned so much from here.  I am having surgery Tuesday...how are you feeling?  I am starting to freak out again!!!  I have been doing so good the past few days.  Right now I am just ready for the surgery part to be over with and to start my new way of life!  Best of luck to you, and let me know how things are going!

i, too, am freaking out. i'm on my pre op diet and it's hard. very very very hard. my family ordered pizza tonight and i sat in the other room and cried b/c i thought how mean it was for them to bring that into the house when i feel like i'm starving on my pre op diet.

at least after surgery my tummy might not feel so empty and when i eat a little bit, i'll feel full... right? certainly hope so! lol

reading this post has made me calm down a bit, but i'm so nervous about the actual surgery and the follow up post op diet and being able to stick to everything.

obviously, in the past i've never been able to pull this off on my own, so hoping i can this time around.

not sure why i'm so scared, i see lots of people on here doing fine, i just worry about risks and dying during or shortly after surgery.

:( wish i could hug a bunch of post ops the morning of surgery to feel/know i'm gonna pull through.

I used gas X that helped some and when I called the doc they told me u need to make sure u have a bowel movement so  to get some milk of magnesia so I did that to  and then  walk and walked and it started going away ! My gallbladder was taken out in 97 so no help there other then I can tell u gallstomes hurt like hell...lol

You're not the only one, but I tink that I am just excited, I have premanent butterflies in my belly. my surgery is on July 28th. i have been on Optifast for 9 days now, it's not so hard, I do feel hungry sometimes but a big glass of water or a sugar free popsicle usually does the trick.
I have a good friend that had the surgery last Sept and she is doing great! She was 430 lbs and she is now around 200lbs, I have asked her if she knew what she does now before  she had it would she do it and she says absolutely. She is a member if you want I can hook you up to talk to her before you go in.
