I know it's been a little while since you posted this but I hope I can help if you're still having issues. I had my surgery two days after you and am still averaging 2-3 pounds a week. I think my continuous weight loss has a lot to do with exercise. You mentioned in your post that you don't eat breads or sweets... I eat a slice of whole grain bread almost every day and I eat the occasional sweet and I have fruits every day. If I weren't exercising as much as I am, I don't think I'd still be losing as much weight as I am. So if you aren't already, try exercising 15 mins-1 hour at least 3 times a day and that should help you lose more weight. If you think about it, you need to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound. Depending on your weight you naturally burn between 1000 and 3000 calories a day naturally. But if you eat the same amount of calories every day as you burn you won't lose weight. So exercise helps increase your chance of losing weight. Also, I try to consume between 600-1000 calories a day. Usually right in the middle. If you want to know how many calories you burn naturally every day or how many calories you burn for different exercises you can try this Website: http://www.healthstatus.com/index.html
Just go to calculators and they have a bunch of different calculators.

Thanks for your response. I would like to ask you if you have trouble with food and/or pills sticking in your chest? There are many things that I am just not able to eat. For the last few weeks I have tried to eat mostly protein, which my Dr. says to eat first. The protein shakes, I cannot tolerate so I came up with my own creation....protein pudding. That's where the banana comes in, which actually makes 2 servings. I use 2 scoops Unjury vanilla protein powder,1 cup skim milk, 1 banana, 3 tablespoons peanut butter and 1 box instant, sugar free banana pudding. This makes me 2 meals and about 60 grams protein. I also make a pumpkin pie, chocolate fudge, and cocoanut pineapple pudding. I hope that this will help, because they say that protein burns fat. Time will tell. Good luck to you as well.

I hear it's normal.
Also a banana counts as 2 fruit servings, that's a lot of carbs in one food item.
I had my RNY a week after you, I have also lot 80 pounds. The last few months have been a concern to me. 4 months ago, i lost 14 pounds, 3 months ago I lost 15, 2 months ago i lost 7, and this month? I'm fighting 3 pounds, i lose it, i gain it. I'm told not to stress over it. But it is distressing.
I eat low carb, and log all my foods, i even weigh them for the most part. Do you take your measurements? You should, it might tell you something that the scale is not.
Best of luck

I had my RNY on 07/12/2010. I have lost 80 pounds which is great, but I haven't lost ANY in 3 months. I don't understand how this can be. I have increased my protein in the last two weeks....still nothing!! Any suggestions or thoughts? I would like to know what things some of you eat. i eat no bread or sweets, other than a banana each day. I'm still not able to eat a lot of things, because they seem to stick right in my chest.
Topic: RE: 3 months out since my surgery on August 14th, 2010
Hi Lawrence,
Congratulations! I bet you feel really good and will only get better. I am having RNY on 27-Dec. Was finally approved by insurance and my doctor after all the pre-evaluations. Received the call today and am excited about getting this show on the road.
See you on the losing side!
All the best,
Jo

Topic: 3 months out since my surgery on August 14th, 2010
Well, it's been 3 months since I had my bariatric procedure and I have to say, that I feel great. I recently saw relatives that I hadn't seen since the summer and they said I looked unbelievable. You know... I don't personally see it with the exception of a thinner face. I've lost so far 75lbs and am feeling pretty good. I got used to finding out what I can tolerate and what my limits are as far as food intake is concerned. I probably vomited 3-4 times since my surgery because my eyes were literally bigger than my stomach. I have to say that I haven't done any real exercise and I admit to feeling pretty guilty about that one, but I'm hoping that after school is over for the semester, I join a gym and get back into the habit of some form of regular workout. For those who are thinking about the surgery, I highly recommend it. It will change your life around. I still weigh in at 263lbs so I have a far way to go before I achieve my goals, but I never would have made it to 263 if it weren't for the surgery. If there anyone who has any questions about the surgery or would like more information, I'll be happy to oblige.
Regards,
Lawrence
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
