Last night was my first night home.

Oh I love sleeping in my own bed.

It was a bit of a tough night but I got alot more rest here than in the hospital.

I'm taking the Gas X stripes that dissolve in your mouth.

I've had gas from both ends and afterwards it feels much better :D

I am having my RNY/Gastric Bypass at Palmetto General Hospital in Florida. I am a bit scared and wish someone who is only a few weeks into surgery to tell me how it went. I wish you all great good luck and may all your dreams come true.

Topic: Surgery Tues., 7/20/10 - Any Band People?
I am having my Realize band surgery next Tuesday.  The shakes have been boring, but somewhat tolerable, surprisingly  Okay, so I had half a Subway sandwich last Saturday.  It's easier when I'm here at work, I can say that much.  I'm getting excited, nervous.  Not as nervous as I once was last year when I was going to do the RnY but couldn't since they just removed my gallbladder.  Anyway, just want to be in touch to keep focused and on track.  It's good to see people in the same boat.  Good luck to everyone!!

I still am having an hard time getting all my fluid and protein in. I just am doing the best I can. I'm thinking about getting those protein shots. I also do not every feel full. neither do I ever feel hungry. I just do about two oz at a time all day long. I have falllin in love with crystal light slurpees. They are cold icy and delicious! They have helped me get my fluid in. The bloating has gone away, and my stomach pain is much better, it just hurts a little where they took the stomach out..

As far as taking something for the gas, I did, I took some tums and that seemed to help, I have read alot of people who say they have taken Gas x after to help out. Man if the surgeon can do something during or after surgery to relive tha gas post op, I really wish they would have done it for me LOL.
Good luck and best wishes, your date is just a hop, skip and a jump away!!!!!

Topic: Gas and bloating - post op question
Surgery is this Saturday and would like to ask a question! I have read several topics today in this Forum regarding the hard time everyone (most everyone) had following surgery with GAS.Can you take GasX  prior to surgery and help rid it?  or even after it?

In the past when I've had a Lap done, the doctor put gas in my abdomen during surgery so he can perform the surgery and it just doesn't have a place to escape.  I never asked, but can't the surgeon do something about that?  Or is it the bowel prep before surgery?
