Topic: Candy is the debil
Yes I said it! Candy is the debil!!! I don't know how but the girls came home with full buckets of candy. I didn't even take them trick or treating! We went to a festival and then to 3 houses. Three!!! My sister's and two cousins. And their buckets were full! Yesterday whenever they weren't looking I would put the buckets on top of the fridge. Outta sight, outta mind.
Today we are gonna be done with the candy. I will let them pick a couple pieces and throw the rest.
Candy is NOT food!!! It's okay to throw it out.

Topic: RE: I hate/love this time of year
I agree with you. This is a difficult time of year. I confess I did have 2 snack size candy bars. They were wonderful, but I stopped there. I think we have to allow ourselves at least a taste or we will feel deprived. We should not feel gulity for having a taste. We're only human.
It would be hard to deal with all that candy in the house. I just have to avoid it. I know it is my weakness.

Joanna,
That is great news. (You might want to add a stool softner with the extra iron.)

Topic: RE: Milk - lots of sugar and carbs - I HAD NO IDEA!!
well that makes me feel better. I've always known that milk was good for you and the soy is "OK" but I much prefer regular skim milk. I guess everything in moderation and you're right Kriste, there are alot of people with a whole lot of different opinions on this board. I was starting to think that maybe they only wanted me to drink the milk during the liquid stage, but that's probably not true because it is a good source of protein. Yeah!! The milk makes my protein shakes taste sooooooo much better........hallelujah :-)
Topic: RE: Milk - lots of sugar and carbs - I HAD NO IDEA!!
Millk is fine to have daily. The sugar in milk is from lactose. This is a natural sugar and shouldn't affect you. I drink 1 cup of lowfat milk in the am in my coffee because it has 12 grams of protein and that is almost as much as the protein shake I buy. Listen to your doctor! Don't trust everything you read on these boards. People on here are not experts but your NUT is and frankly there is alot of bad info out there. As long as milk doesn't affect you negatively drink up! Try water in your shakes or go half and half but don't do it because of the sugar and carbs. You will probably find the stall is unrelated. It just happens. Good luck!
Topic: Bloodwork 3 months out
My bloodwork didn't get faxed in time for my doctor's appointment so I just now received it.
A1C 6.2, down from 7.0
Fasting blood sugar 114, Down from 187
Cholesterol 165, about the same as preop
Triglycerides 89! WOW! Down from 195
B12 is normal (had problems with B12 levels preop)
Iron is a tiny bit low (had problems with iron levels preop)
I no longer take diabetes meds or cholesterol meds. In fact. I take only 3 meds now, not the 13-15 I took preop.
I added one iron tabled every other day to the multivitamin with iron I was already taking to bring my iron levels up to par.
I am just AMAZED. Three months. What a difference. This surgery was about my health and how I feel. My health is improving daily and I feel GREAT! I have no food issues. I don't feel deprived. I have been able to eat anything I've tried. I haven't dumped. I could kick myself for not having WLS sooner.
