Joanna,

I too was curious to know what the nutritional value was on the whole fruit and yogurt parfait and this is what I found.   http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/nutritionexchange/nutrition_f acts.html
fat grams look great, I accidentally deleted the cholesterol column title  :(  The sugars at 21 though, seem a bit high, but that's a good question though about the difference between sugar vs. sugar alcohols.  There's so much to learn.

People have different tolerances for dumping, so who knows.

I haven't tested my dumping tolerance with sugar yet..and I don't plan on it.  Just having my short brush with Type II diabetes was enough for me to lay off the sugar for life.  I don't dump on fatty things or starchy things, though..I know that for sure.

I had alcohol a little more than 2 months out.  I know, I know..shame on me.  I sipped on a double shot of Jagermeister over about a 3 hour period.  I didn't feel any effects from the alcohol and because I couldn't drink it quickly it got warm and nasty.  I felt the burn as it went down a little more tha I used to.

Pre-op I drank on rare, rare occasions and it was usually Jager Bombs (jager and redbull), and since I can't do the carbonation anymore that's out.  I don't feel like I'm missing out on much by not drinking, so I don't think I'll partake again in the future.

I'm still kinda scared to try it and man oh man, you should see my cupboard.  I have so much booze in my cupboard, bottles that have never even been opened (pre-surgery, I liked to have a good selection, although I'm not a big entertainer, except for to my own self  :(, but I'm still kinda scared to try it.  Probably better off that way, but I will certainly let you know when I try it.  I'm thinking Thanksgiving unless I keep talking about it, then it could be sooner.  It's interesting reading everyone's experiences.

I have had drinks more than a few times.  THe first time was at home and I was perfectly fine.  I drink, get drunk then sober up then hangover all in about 30 minutes...yuck!!  I don't drink anything carbonated and I don't dump on sugar so I am able to drink margaritas with no problem.  Halloween was the most drunk I have been even before my surgery...lol.  I had a great time!  It didn't follow the drink drunk sober hangover routine but I did notice two or three sips had me spinning.  I would definately try it at home before going out and if you dump stay away from the sugar stuff.  Let us know how it is when you try it!

I am 53 since July and am very pleased with what I have achieved thus far.  I can walk and stand for long periods of time now which I could not have done 4 1/2 months ago.I work for TSA and spend most of my day on my feet. 69 lbs is a lot and I look forward to continuing my journey for me.

I've was sitting at the computer all day yesterday doing homework. Not thinking, I ate a bunch of sugar free Werthers candies. Um. Not good. I ran for the bathroom soon after and for hours afterward. No dumping symptoms - just the bathroom issues. I have never had a dumping episode as folks here describe it.  I lost 2lbs! Sugar alcohol I'm thinking. The weird thing is that this morning i went thru the drive thru at McDonald's on the way to the laundry (washer busted till I can pay a repair man) and ate a fruit & yogurt parfait - the whole thing. No problems at all. If I were going to dump, shouldn't a whole fruit & yogurt parfait have brought it on?

I have taken biotin since I was able to swallow the capsules...its been over 3 years.  I take one 5000mcg capsule 2X daily.  It didn't really seem to help the hair falling out, still does if my protein is too low, even after 3 years.  But, it does help with keeping your hair healthy, thicker, shinier, etc.  My stylist is always talking about "my secret".  She has stick straight baby fine hair.  She takes it now and her hair appears much fuller, holds color better and is much easier to style...she was amazed.  If I can amaze the stylist, why ruin a good thing.
