Topic: RE: Sugar
Hey girlie..
Each doc & nutritionist gives different advice... I was told by doc office & Gastric firm.. that I should not go over the limit of refine sugars(sugar, corn syrup ect.) of greater than <5grams.. depending on each individual persons tolerance.. though.. my girlfriend had gastric surgery 3 months after me.. and can eat any sugar without a dumping syndrome effect.. SHE MAKES ME SICK... LOL.. but my preference is no refine brown&white sugar.. so I use the imitation sugar (splenda).. this is all my body can handle... I can't even use sweet & low... CRAZY.. But you still have to be careful with splenda don't make my mistake and get the baking version!! it's half sugar & half splenda... I was sooo sick!! If you chooose to use splenda i would watch out for that.. oooh yeah Aspevia is bad... it is still has a refine source of sugar...
I would check with my Doc & nutritionist advice!!

Topic: RE: Sugar
I've had some. I tried a little of this and a little of that to see if I'd get sick. Some stuff made me dump but I can eat a few m&m cookies with no problem. I am a sugar addict, and I don't mean I like sugar a lot, I really am addicted to it. But I convinced myself I could have a little now. Now I crave sweets all the time. So if you have a problem with sugar and you can manage to keep avoiding it, stay away from it.(imho)
smooches!

Topic: RE: Meat is no longer my friend
Have you tried slow cooking your meat? I made a pork loin the other day, put no sugar added apple juice, some fresh apple slices, cinnamon sticks, salt & pepper, and cooked it ALL DAY. It did have a little fat on it, but after about 6 hours of cooking, I didn't have a hard time eating it at all.
I know some people are having problems with fruit still, but apples are my best friend. You get a little fiber (which i need these days!), and the sweetness (which I don't always enjoy). It was a wonderful meal. I had steamed broccoli as a side, and it was fantastic!
However, I don't tolerate turkey (ground, roasted, smoked, etc) at all...and the beef roast didn't go down well (cooked all day, too), either. I think it's just our bodies adjusting. who knows, if i made the loin next week, i may not be able to eat it!
My favorites/standards are: Cheese sticks (2% mozarella), fat free refried black beans with cheese and Pace picante (no sugar added!), Shrimp, and Lite SF Musselman's Cinnamon Apple sauce. YUM. OH! and have you tried the new Dark Chocolate SF Mousse's yet? I believe it is a Jell-O brand, and the containers are matte dark browne. So good...and rich, I can only eat about 3 bites (baby spoon), but it REALLY fixes any sweet tooth I might have.

Topic: Sugar
Does anyone eat sugar yet? I've cut 100% of it out of my diet (well, white/brown sugar, that is...still have natural sugars and lactose). I thought about getting the lemon calcium things, but one of the ingredients is sugar! I'm torn. My doc says they are fine, but I REALLY don't want to let ANY sugar back into my diet. If the word "sugar" or "corn syrup" is an ingredient, I don't buy it.
Is this wrong??? I'm a little confused!

Topic: RE: Happy 6 Mo Post Op Girls!!!!
Hi ladies. It's really inspiring reading how well everyone is doing!
I just posted a before and 6 mo picture and I saw the difference in the picture but I am still having issues with feeling like it's not real and focusing more on how far I have to go vs. how far I've come.
My wow moment came just after Christmas when I went shopping with my sister and was able to buy shirts from Old Navy. That has never happened before.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I dropped off the face of the earth for so long! I have made some major career changes over the last couple of months and have been working like a dog! I started a new job in mid-December and had been working 3 jobs until the first of the year....upwards of 100hours/week.....exhausting! I am finally settling into the new job and am finding I have time in the wee hours of the morning to come visit obesity help!
I am 6 months out today and feel great! I'm down to 167lbs from 240 the day of surgery (251hw)! I bought my first pair of juniors jeans this week and was shocked I needed a size 15! I've been wearing a 12 in womens jeans for a month now and hadn't been able to squeeze my FUPA into a pair of jr jeans. I grabbed a size 15 and 17 just to see and was completely amazed I fit into the 15's!
I can't wait to catch up on everyone elses news! Feels good to be back!
