Feeling a little discouraged
I had hoped to get to my goal weight by my first anniversary (in July) but at the rate I am going I probably will not make it.
I just tracked my food intake and found that I am eating too many grams of carbs. I didn't realize that those protein shakes would contribute that many. I was thinking I was doing a good thing by incorporating more protein into my diet, but I drink them with milk, which adds carbs.
I'm just a little, well, okay, A LOT discouraged to discover that I have to starve myself down to my goal weight. On the flip side, I am learning really well how to maintain my loss.
I have to keep reminding myself that it's a journey and there really is no "end".
Thanks for letting me vent.

I too had a goal in mind for our 1st year anniversary. Seeing as how slow the weight loss has been lately, I don't see that happening either. Yes, it frustrates the mess outta me. But I can't control the scale and it should not determine our success. Better said than done, I know, but we gotta keep saying it until we believe it.
I think you are doing fabulous!

From what I've read, if it's got ALOT of protein, then the carbs kind of get cancelled out, not really, but over rules the carbs, plus I suspect they're the "good carbs" vs. the bad ones. Are you drinking skim milk? The protein drinks I drink have zero carbs and I get about 12 carbs in 1 cup of fat free/skim. I think you're doing just fine. I know I panicked a bit at first two when I saw the amount of carbs in milk, but I'm over it now. I don't know if it's possible to have a carb free diet. You could always cut back by using water with your protein shakes, but then you get to where they aren't as tasty.
Girl, drink MILK! It does the body good! The carbs in milk comes from the lactose, a natural sugar. It has protein and calcium. Don't stop drinking milk. We need carbs in our diet. I drink a cup of milk in my morning coffee with a packet of diet cocoa and it gives me almost as much protein as the only protein shake I can stomach. You'll get there, keep plugging along! Keep your head up! July is still 4 months away.
I don't drink regular milk. Since my surgery it gives me stomach cramps and diarrehea. I drink soy milk, although I have had some of the lactaide milk and that went down okay.
Seriously, I am losing about 2 lb a MONTH if I am lucky. I have just about resigned myself to being this size. I'll just get my picture out and look how far I have come and feel proud of myself and resolve to gain NOTHING back.
