Well, I found the answer to our question so my next batch of protein balls will be made with the quick oats......

on yahoo answers I found the following response to my question on here as to:
"what is the difference between rolled oats and quick oats"....

response was:
" Not really a big difference. Quick oats are rolled oats, that are rolled just a little thinner, but should work."

another response was:
"Rolled oats are whole oat grains that have been steamed and rolled to make them flat; they take longer to cook. Quick oats are the same thing but pulverized so that they cook quicker. Use either one, it doesn't matter, it will taste the same."

Whew!!  I bought Steel oats a few weeks ago!!  Now I have lots of oats to choose from  ;-)

I hear the steel cut oats take a LONG time to cook.  Maybe they shouldn't be used in something you aren't going to cook?  Maybe they'll be too tough?  Let me know how you make out.

will do - I read the Steel Oats in a recipe someplace and thought I would buy them so I was ready to make whatever darn recipe it was someday  :-)       Should be interesting because I had never heard of "steel oats".  Oh, the things I've learned on this journey  :-)
