Thyroid issue?!?
Ok, so I went to my primary care provider for a physical a few weeks ago and had blood drawn. Everything looked great except my good cholesterol was a little lower than it should have been. They also did a bone density test on me...my hips are fine but I have osteopenia in my back! So, they decided to run some more labs that day. So, I got those results back today and my T3 thyroid hormone level is too low. So then they decided to do more labs on me today to check the rest of my hormone levels. What in the world? So, in the past 3 weeks I have had lab work done 3 times. Pretty bad that the phlebotomist knows me now.
Has anyone else run into any weird stuff like a thyroid that's too slow? My PCP says that he wants me to get on medication that will speed up my thyroid and help me sleep better at night. I am having issues there too. But on the up side of things, that will help me lose the weight at a faster rate instead of just 2 pounds every two weeks. I wonder, do you think that the slow thyroid helped contribute to my being so big before and making it harder to lose weight?
Anyway, I am just glad that I am being well looked after by my docs. I have a follow up with my surgeon on Oct. 26th so I am definitely going to share all that my PCP has said.
And a WOW for me to leave this on a good note - I am a sze 16! I haven't seen that number since shortly after high school over ten years ago :)

My surgeon wanted a TSH level prior to even considering surgery on me.
If you have never had your thyroid checked before and you now have hypothyroidism that very well may have been a contributing factor to your inability to lose and to your slow WL now! I hope the meds help you in all aspects of your life!
