1 month out what are you eating?

I bought the Barilla Plus Penne and it was so good! I had a good protein day but still needed some calories so I had a little less then 2 oz of the pasta with 1 tsp of move over butter and 1 tbsp of RF Parm cheese.  SOOOOOOOOOO freakin good! I don't do that daily mostly because I want to stay as low carb as possible but it was a nice treat and change of pace.  I also bought some BBQ soy crisps and they were delicious too! Are you counting your carbs?  I read on other posts that carbs to protein should be 2:1.  So as long as my carbs are 1/2 of what my protein is then I am not worried.  I am usually fine.

I like the Barilla Plus pastas.  I also buy the Dreamfield's low carb pastas-- they're not as dense and nutty as the whole wheat varieties but have a texture more like traditional pasta without all the carbs.

Spaghetti with ground turkey meat sauce is one of my favorite meals.  It goes down easily and doesn't make the pouch grouchy.

I eat pretty much what i want, avoiding bread and stuff that expands when wet and most carbs and real sugar... i made pizza for the kids the other day and pizza is one of my weaknesses, so i made it healthy with turkey peperoni, mushrooms, LF cheese and feta cheese, and i scraped the toppings off of 1 pc, all the way down to the bread and ate that from a bowl... it was just like pizza.. mmmmmm... i am having a hard time with any protein drinks... i keep trying different ones and not give up till i find one!!! i live in Alaska so we dont have any real cool places to shop like trader joes or places like that, we have GNC and the Internet, so i have ordered some protein samples from a few diff places and hopefully we will have a not too expensive winner... LOL... thank you all for your input on what your eating that helps me as well... keep your head high, together we can do this!!!

I eat anything that will chew up good and go down.  If I eat a carb it's with a protein like the nutritionist said.  Applesauce is a nono as is beef.  They just feel stuck.  But, I haven't had anything with sugar.  One of the best things is tuna salad made with mayo and dill relish.  Fish goes very well and I don't have to put it in the bullet.  I find chicken in the bullet is too dry so I don't eat too much chicken.  I chew a LOT.  I had mashed potatoes and they were great with thin gravy. I drink a lot of tea.  Water with those flavor packs are too sweet for me now and leave my mouth feeling disgusting.  Eggs are super, and I even had sausage just not the wrap around it.

I cannot drink protein shakes.  They are ALL horrible.  I've spent so much money on different shakes and they all make me gag.  YUCK!

Isn't it amazing how far we have come in a month.  How we thought we'd never have food again.

I'm trying new stuff every day.  No beef yet.  I haven't really wanted any so I'm putting it off.  No roughage or bread or pasta yet.  I did eat pork, tried a hot dog, some ham and salami.  All seemed a bit fibrous, so I spit them out.  it's amazing how much skin is on a turkey hot dog.

I  haven't eaten plain eggs and based on your experiences, I can put that off a little longer :)  I did make egg salad and it was yummy.  I also haven't eaten any fruit, but an apple is sounding really good.. no skin of course and only half.

I'm in a rut of salad du jour, but as long as it is working and I'm not board with it, it is easy to throw stuff in the magic bullet.  I eat a pretzel or some melba toast for some crunch.

I'm still doing 2 shakes a day - for convenience and to make sure I get my protein. String cheese and baby bell lights are staples both at work and at home just in case.

Here is my real delima - travel snacks.  I will be on an airplane for more than 3 hours.  I will need food.  I have not yet eaten any nuts.  What are good travel foods?  Liquid/gel restriction will probably keep me from carrying on my tuna salad, but I may try (pre packaged).  Any suggestions?

I have had the hardset time finding a shake i like and haven't had a shake in 3 days every time i look at one i just feel ill.  Although i did really like  the Nectar sweets chocolate truffle if you make it right it can taste like a frosty or chocolate milk i just need to go buy more of it. I am still not getting but like 40-60g and i need 80 the closest i have come is 72 once.  I did go buy some pure protein bars and they were yummo 20g each i can only eat half and i have to eat it slowly. Gotta go get some more.  One thing that works today might not work tomorrow but work again next week grrrr so frustrating. I did scrambled eggs the first time loved them now i cannot do them gonna try again next week and hope they go ok.  I am 5 weeks today whoo hoo one more week and "normal" foods but that is kind of scary lol.

Hi Fellow July'ers ...

I am now exactly 4 weeks out and I am in the puree stage.  I think, perhaps, I am being far too rigid with my diet  based on some of the things I'm reading.  I am doing strictly baby foods, protein shakes, some mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, oatmeal and macaroni /cheese.  I also tried creamed spinach and mashed green beans.  I see others are doing more meats like chicken and beef.  Are you all puree'ing your meats or just chewing it up very carefully.

I'm starting to experience more 'bouts' of hunger, so I'm thinking I should be adding  more to my diet, but I just don't want to do anything 'wrong' to set me back.

Any advice on what else I should be eating at the 4 week stage?

Thanks OH family!!  Doesn't it feel ABSOLUTELY AWESOME to be on the losers bench!!!

Good continued luck and success!!!

I was so happy when I got to the puree/soft food stage... I been eating according to what my doctor stated
1.boiled eggs(GOOD FOR YOU HIGH PROTEIN ONLY 70 cal boiled.
2.) Scrambled Eggs (ONLY 75 CALORIES one large egg)

2) Skin milk string CHEESE(one stick is 80 calories)

3) skinless, boneless chicken thigh meat ( 100 calories for
2 oz 's of meat very soft thought)
4.) THE BEST TO ME IS SALMON & WHEAT NOODLES !!WITH NO GLUTEN.( NOTE:GLUTEN MAKES DUMPING SYNDROME!!).
EACH OF THESE ITEMS ARE ALSO AROUND 15 to 20 grams of protein.
5.) MY whey protein shakes that I purchased off
www.bariactricseating.com< might have misspelled the email address but very cheap whey protein shakes just for our bodies> are awesome, grape, roadside lemonade!!
I hit a plateau my dietitian (MY MOTHER RN NURSE) told me to eat more protein as much as I can ..chicken and eggs as you can.. I did that lost about 7 to 8 lbs this week.. so I continue to do this.. just make sure that they are very soft, and mashed for digestion. My Mom explained the more protein you eat your body will let go of the fat it is hanging onto because of the fight VS. flight scenario... when we are just eating only 700 to 800 calories that is not enough for the body to function so it will hold onto the fat...
