I've got my new surgery date, July 30th!
I'm having my 3 hour open long-limb gastric bypass on July 30th. Oh, boy!
(Sorry if I sound sarcastic but this surgery was canceled at the last minute on July 9th and it's kind of hard to get back in the saddle once you've been kicked off the gurney.)
I'm starting my one week pre-op liquid diet tomorrow.
I don't know why they call it a "liquid" diet because I mainly eat low-fat dairy.
Breakfast: 1 - Lowfat sugar-free yogurt
AM Snack: 1 - sugar-free pudding cup
Lunch: 1/2 Cup Lowfat cottage cheese
PM Snack: 1- sugar-free pudding cup
Dinner: 1/2 Cup Lowfat cottage cheese or 1 Cup of Skim milk (at bedtime, wards off the hunger pains)
Of course the liquid part is all the sugar-free beverages you want; water, crystal light, tea, coffee
and all the sugar-free jello & popsicles you want.
Last time I lost 21.5 lbs. in 2 weeks on this diet, however, I stayed on it for 2 weeks pre-op. I was also being very active cleaning and organizing my home to get ready for life at home post-op.
After my surgery was unexpectedly canceled I was told to go back on a "normal" diet and that I did not have to do a pre-op diet at all next time.
I was pretty bad on my "normal" diet. So, I think it would be in my best interests to do the "liquid" diet for 1 week before surgery.
Here we go again!
