Had surgery July 1st!!

I had surgery the 1st, home the 2nd and doing pretty good today.  I can tell you I heard a lot about the gas pain but never imagined it could be as bad as it was.  The incisions don't hurt at all and I can do almost anything, walking, bending, showered, sleeping comfortable.  The gas pains were soooooo bad at first I was vomiting and crying.  They put me on a pain pump and I DEMANDED to get out of bed even though I was only 2 hours post op.  The short walk I took made me feel sooooo much better.  Then I started walking every hour even through the night.  I was so tired after walking I would have to lay down for 30 mins or so but the pain was improved.  I actually walked out of the hospital and to the car.

I had a 3 hour ride home due to bay area holiday weekend traffic and that made me sick. I went to bed when I got home and didnt get up until about 2am.   I ate some yogurt and had a glass of iced tea and went back to bed.  I woke up feeling pretty good this morning and have even been outside to do some light gardening.  I am so happy I had the surgery and I know it is going to take some time to feel back to normal but so far so good.   I highly recommend gasx thin strips that dissolve on your tongue!!!  I am down 5 lbs just since surgery!!!

Good luck to all of you who have upcoming dates.  I am proud of you!!

Wow!!!  Congratulations!  You are doing fantastic!  I thought it would be much worse but you seem to be doing great.  I hope that we all can do as well.  So glad you are home and feeling good.

Awesome! I'm so glad your surgery went so well! Thanks for the heads up about the gas.  I had heard that it was the worse part.  I bought a pack of GasX strips.  Do you think I need more than 1 pack? How long did that gas last?  I hope you feel better and better every day! Just make sure you get your rest! Not too much gardening in this heat.  Well, it's hot down here(so cal), not sure if its hot up there.  Take care!

I would get 2 packs.  You can use 2-4 strips at a time.  I used 1-2 at a time but I am still having gas issues.  My post op friends tell me about 5-6 days of gas after.  Good luck!!!
