Ikea has a cheap set of flatware that has big forks and spoons and little ones.  Cheap too, like 5 bucks! I found some cute appitezer plates and "dipping bowls" at Target. But then the other day at Ross I found sets of them in really cute colors.

Ok my to do list. My surgery date is July 20th but I start an all liquid diet on the 6th so a lot to do to get ready for this. Oh yeah by the way I own a coffee shop so there is a lot involved to get ready for an absence of 4 weeks of work.

1.   Buy more slim fast for pre op (may day may day Sam’s club is out and won’t be in stoc****il fall. Okay amazon has a pretty good deal)
2.   Order slim fast (from Amazon)
3.   Buy vitamins, Tums and B12 are done now just need Vitamin C and Flintstones.
4.   Attend pre op appointment
5.   Take first kid to grad pop for 6 weeks (In Philadelphia)
6.   Have second kid sent to in laws the night before surgery.
7.   Complete Living Will
8.   Write letters to Wife and kids (Thanks JENNI SORUM for the idea)
9.   One week replacement training of new manager.
10. Notify all regular customers and sales persons I will be gone for 4 weeks.
11. Attend Pre Op “surprise" party being thrown by employees.
12. Stay away from cake at “surprise" Party
13. Try more pureed food before the 6th
14.  Pack
15. Be on operating table July 20th (I think this is the most imp         ortant one everyone should do this step.)

You need a better multivitamin than Flintstones.  If you don't want to buy the bariatric ones, at least buy the Centrum Silver chewables and take two a day.  So many wls patients end up vitamin deficient on Flintstones.    I didn't see Calcium on your list.  We need 500mg calcium citrate three times a day to make sure we are absorbing enough.

OK well first I did say Calcium, Tums which I'm sure you know, is a calcium supplement.. Secondly I was told BY MY NUTRITIONIST to take the Flintstones "Complete" Vitamin I'm sorry i have never heard of Bariatric Vitamins that more or less sounds like a reason to charge you extra for a simple multi vitamin same goes for centrum. I am going to one of the best hospitals on the nation and possibly the world (Cleveland Clinic) or at least i think so. I trust that they have done this thousands of times and know what their doing so  when I'm told to take something specific I will do it.

I was told the same thing.  I say take what they said and if down the line your labs aren't as great as they should be, then look into something that is made for bariatric patients.  You can request samples and info from different companies.  I got samples from Bariatric Fusion and Bariatric advantage.  Good luck!

My surgery is July 13th.  I've been on vacation this week (use it or lose it comp time needed to use before June 30th).  My surgeon requires a 2 week pre-op diet that is basically protein shakes 2-3 times a day, 3oz lean protein and 2 cups salad for dinner, 2 half cup servings of fruit.

So I've got some Unjury samples, ordered some fruit flavored Nectar samples, bought SF Carnation Instant Breakfast and low carb Slim Fast.  I'm waiting until after surgery for any large container of protein purchases.  Seems so many people buy alot and then don't like the taste later.

I've got chewable multivitamins, B-12 sublinguals, calcium with vitamin D.  Still need to get iron with vitamin C.  Still need to get prescription for smaller size Effexor.  Other meds can be crushed or are small enough already.  Need to go do pre-op registration appointment and have annual physical (July 9th) done and faxed to surgeon's office.

I've been laughing at everyone planning to get their laundry done before surgery.  Since my son came home from college, it seems I never see the bottom of that hamper.  That will be his job to keep ahead of, as well as the dishes.

Both my son and husband are very supportive, and capable of taking care of me and the household.

Glad to meet some people with dates around my date.

This post has been super helpful to me...My date is 7/28 so I have about 4-5 weeks.  I just had a question.  My home has quite a few stairs.  I have about 14 going up and 14 going down.  Not too worried about going down, but I've got to get up to get to my big ol' king sized bed!  :)   Is it possible to do stairs right away or is the pain unbearable?

thanks,

Gena

I don't know about stairs.  I would post this on the regular board were all the post ops are.  They'll tell ya! They are great!
