Topic: RE: July 2008 surgery date and now insurance may belly up
Oh dear, I feel your pain. I've done all the preliminary work and am on pins and needles to find out if my insurance will cover it. I think they will, as I have diabetes, hypertension, gastroparesis, arthritis, neuropathy, and a couple of other blah, blahs, but one can never be sure:sure until the ink is dry on the contract. Good luck to you, and I hope you get yourself bypassed in good time, and that your ex stays where he belongs: in your past. I have such a strong feeling that this is indeed a new life event. My surgeon is Dr. Jean-Baptiste, and I can't help but see the symbolism in his name as I get ready for my new life. Please God. Best wishes, Mary Ellen

Hi Angela, I know how you feel like you have tried everything to lose the weight. I am 36 years old, 5'2" and I weight 274 so I have a little bit more to lose then you. I applied with OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance) to have the surgery paid for in the States and 2 week later I had my letter in the mail. It was approved and I was so happy. If you feel that surgery is your only choice and you are ready for it then don't let anyone talk you out of it. I did alot of research about everything I can expect from the gastric bypass and when someone tries to talk me out, I correct them and knock them down nicely of course. Good luck and if you need someone to talk i'm here. Julie

Thank you Katie! Good luck on your surgery on the 7th, my thoughts will be with you. All know all this stuff is worth it in the end, I guess I just got caught off guard with this last one. I guess the cost of it was the bigger shocker but if I'm only on it for 1 week then it will be alot cheaper. Thanks for the words of reassurance. Julie

Hello, I saw you are having surgery on the same date as I am. I was approved in a week. I was warned when the letter for approval was submitted and received the call the following week. Wow.... 10 more days..... to go......

Hello and congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I am scheduled for July 7th! I had my final appt. with the surgeon today and I too got the prescription for the blood thinners. He said there weren't enough studies out yet and this was the best prevention right now. He gave me a script for all my post surgery meds so I will have them when I get home. I HATE NEEDLES TOO! I feel your pain. It's only for a week, so I think I can handle it. I keep telling myself it will be sooooo worth it in the end. I was told it's a really thin needle and doesn't hurt. You give it in the stomach. Best of luck to you- I will be keeping you in my prayers! Katie
