Topic: independence day surgery
I'm flying into Texas on July 3rd to have a VSG on July 4th. This is the fifth day of my pre-op liquid diet. I chose to do liquids or an extra week.= crazy! I have a headache that you would not believe, and all I want is PIZZA.
I know this is just part of the ride. Anyway, I love the symbolism of having surgery on Independence Day!
Topic: July 7th Surgery Date - nerves are getting the best of me.
OK, the time is nearing and I'm having doubts. My daughter had her RNY last August and is doing fabulous - lost 125 lbs - looks like she did in HS. She is my guiding force. My problem is that I have health issues that she didn't - diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diastolic dysfunction-heart, permanent blood clots in my left jugular vein and subclavical vein, and most recently a stent in my heart. I've checked out w/all my docs and have got the AOK, but I'm worried about something going wrong. I need this surgery to get my health on track, but I need all the support that I can get from those of you who have already been there. As the day gets closer, I get am more stressed and find myself questioning my decision. Thanks in advance for your support. Jackie

I'm having my surgery July 7th as well. I getting nervous and hoping I've made the right decision. I've been experimenting w/protein shakes. I like EAS Advantage (17g protein) from Walmart and Lean Body RTD by Labrada (40g protein). Good luck to you. Jackie

My surgery date is also set for 7/15 at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Have you been buying the stuff for when you come out of the hospital?
