Hi! I was just reading your question in the forum. I just had RNY surgery on Monday (7/7). I had to have the blood thinner shots myself, but mine were while I was in the hospital. Nothing Post-Op. I assure you, the needle is very short. It's just to go under the skin. The first on I had was while I was being prepped for the OR. It really wasn't that bad, but the trick is... Don't put it anywhere but your stomach. I swear to you, I never felt it go in. Now, you will feel a bit of a sting for a few seconds after that. Don't rub it or you will bruise. Don't get freaked out, but you will end up with several bruises without even knowing you hit yourself. This is due to the blood being so thinned out.
