Topic: RE: Just had RNY & having trouble w/Post-Op Diet
Hi, Dee: Thanks for the advise. I'm feeling much better today, so I think the excess gas is absorbing or moving. I still have a pain every once in a while right under my left rib cage. It only last a few seconds. I just have to breathe through it. I've started drinking Isopure. If I can get it down, it will be my water & protein source. I've been walking up & down my hallway every hour or two. It seems to get things moving. I'm still trying to get used to my "new stomach". I'm so fearful to eat or drink too much & cause it to expand. But thanks again for the advise & keep me informed on how you're doing post-op Beth

Hi Bethany, I had my surgery on the 1st. I also had a lot of gas..... My doctor said not to worry about the protein for the first week. Just keep drinking water, broth, jello. I did this. I didn't feel like going out in "public" to walk, so i just stood in place and walked. It helps. The gas will pass. I promise! Mine took about a week and still have some gas right after I "eat". Just get used to your new "stomach". I promise you will feel better in about a week. Dee

Hi Sheri, I was banded on the 1st. Am now feeling really great....still a little sore. Have lost a total of 21 pounds so far. This includes the pre-op. My thoughts will be with you as you start this journey.....do not get discouraged! Dee

I haven't had surgery yet, but I will pass along the advice of my coach/angel. She said to drink protein drinks and to keep walking to move the gas.

Topic: RE: Surgery date: July 28
Whoo hoo-- 5 of us so far. I begin my pre-surgery tests/classes tomorrow. The liquid/one small meal diet begins Monday. I shouldn't admit this, but I'm hitting all of my favorite food joints because I know it will be a looooooong time, if ever, that I can have a bite/any of these foods. I'm so fortunate to have an angel that's local and has had surgery (April/07) at the same hospital. She has given me such good advice. I'll be glad to share it if anyone wants me to.
