My BCBS required 3 obesity related issues. That includes your BMI so don't worry you will be fine. I was approved & had surgery 7/1 & I only had a very mild apnea.

Thanks for the tips. I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond, I had sugery 7/01 & a few complications but I'm much better now. I love coffee so that was the perfect answer. I also found that chewing a few Papaya Enzyme tablets before drinking protein has made digestion MUCH !! easier.

G'day Bev, Thanks for the welcome. I am sure I will have many questions to ask and I am grateful to have found a place where I will get straight answers. This is my thrid lot of surgery since march, so I am hoping it will be the last for a long time. Next tuesday is the day, I am a bit aprehensive but know my surgeon well and have no doubt of his skill. So not only will I hopefully be back to good health I will be on a new road to being slim, something I have never been. Hope to talk again soon, Cynthia

Hello everyone, My name is Cynthia and I am in Australia. I found your board yesterday and love the idea of being able to talk to people who are having or have had the same thing that I am going to. I have surgery on the 22nd, I am having the surgery not specifically for weight loss but as hopefully a cure for a disease that I have, the weight loss is going to be a fantastic bonus for me. I am obese but have never bothered too much about it. I have never been a diet and loose weight girl. Now though I dont have a choice so I have to get ready for a whole new way of life. Anyway G'day to you all I am happy to have found you. Cynthia :-)

I so feel for you! I was going through the exact same thing last week. I had a complete breakdown at one point, just agonizing over not being able to have something different besides clear liquids! I can tell you that it does get better. Getting out of the house is important. When I was off work last week, every night when my husband got home from work, we went for a little drive. Even if it was just to a local park for a short walk, getting out of the house made a huge difference for me. As for getting some food with taste, get creative! Add some cinnamon and sugar free caramel to your apple sauce. Throw some spices in your broth. Just because you had WLS, does not mean you have to eat boring food for the rest of your life!

Hi Mishelle, Sorry to hear about your depression.....you will feel better in just a few days. I promise! I was at about day 10 when I started sleeping better and the pain wasn't as intense. Also, try just walking in place or around your living room. I live in Arizona and it too hot to walk outside right now. I walked around my living room and it really helped! I am now at 15 days out and feeling really good. Some soreness around the port site. Every day gets better! And, I have lost 25 pounds!!!!! This includes pre-op weight loss also. Chin up girl!!!! Dee

Topic: RE: Need Help RNY or Lap Band??
Hi Heather. Like you, when I first went to the seminar to find out about the procedures I had mixed emotions. But this is what I came away with. 1. I heard the doctor say that they didn't know how the material for the Lapband would fare in 20 or 30 years. Would it breakdown or what? Well in 20 years, I will be 70. Not a surgery I would be looking forward to at that age to swap it out or change it. 2. I have a very bad sweet tooth and I guess I was looking for something to give me the dicipline to say "NO, you can't have just one piece of chocolate, you will get very sick". Dieting was never a good enough reason to stay away from sweets - that was my downfall. 3. I like the statitics on the rapid weight loss with RNY as apposed to the Lapband. I didn't want to wait that long to see results. If I am going to put myself thru this, I want results I can see asap! So there you have it. Good luck with what ever you decide on. Either way it will be beneficial in the long run. Marianne
