I had a manometry done today, otherwise known as an endoscopy. (very unpleasant experience) This test was due to an abnormality in my upper GI pre-op testing. My surgery was scheduled for Thursday July, 31st and when I called today Monday July 28th I was told "Oh Jennifer we are going to have to postpone your surgery until August 12th due to a meeting the surgeon has to attend" 1. Is this normal? Should I worry? 2. Am I wrong to consider this inconciderate?

I feel so bad I missed the last support meeting at RWMC. I was looking forward to going, even picked out some old pictures of me before surgery. But Thur. morning at work I popped my hip out again and they have now pull me out of work. I was in a lot of pain that night that is why I could not come. I am set to go into the hospital again Sept 3rd for the total hip replacement. Thank god for the bypass surgery because they said I would have to loose up to 75lbs in order to have any kind of hip surgery before all this happen. I have now lost 93lbs. WHOOOOHOOOOO...... And still going. Did I miss anything that happen at the meeting? feel free to fill me in email, call. I am not stuck at home for the doctor will not let me drive. I am still watching everything I eat. The only thing now is I can exercise. I am lifting 2lb wt for my arms but for the leg and belly I am told I can not do. For fear of dislocating the hip. I aready took a peace of the bone off the join so it is like a loose tooth. Can come off at anytime. Sorry I again I missed the meeting I really got alot of the last one I went too. Lisa

You can get the bullets at GNC, BUT... I've read that the protein in them is not the highest quality. It's collagen protein, and may not be as easily absorbed as whey or soy protein. I'd check with your nutritionist about how they view the protein bullets. Advice? Mine is to work hard to drink your liquids! I hit a stall at 2.5 weeks out, and was so frustrated. I was getting 90-100 grams of protein, walking 1-2 miles daily, but nothing was happening. I talked to my NUT and realized I was only getting about 30-40oz of liquid a day... not even close to enough. She told me that if you're on the verge of dehydration, your body will hang on to water and thus stall your weight loss. I worked hard and have been getting 64-72oz a day in now, and have lost 7lbs in a week.

My PCP and I have been searching for more than a year for a bariatric surgeon in South Texas who accepts Medicaid. I am fast losing my ability to walk, due to the problems caused by obesity. I have nine ruptured discs caused by degenerative disc disease, therefore am unable to exercise, and now to walk! Please, if you are that surgeon, or if you know of any surgeons, please post here so that I may finally have the help so desperately needed. Thank You!

Hey Kris!!! Congratulations!!!! I just had my RNY surgery on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 and it is only Sunday, July 27, 2008 & I am feeling GREAT!! I have been off of pain meds for 2 days and I started getting back into my walking routine today. Taking it slow and listening to my body has been key to me. Follow ALL of your doctor's advice, he is the professional. I actually went to my scrapbook club meeting and stayed a little over 2 hrs scraping it up on Friday. (It helped that it was at my neighbor's house, so I new I was close to home.) The best advice is to pray and stay calm and it will be all over before you know it!!! God Bless! - Darcy
