Topic: RE: 2 weeks out from surgery
Between the yogurt, the cottage cheese, ground meats, tuna salad, and the protein drinks, I haven't seemed to have a problem getting enough protein either. I've started using liquid Centrum vitamins and I just put that in the protein shake along with the calcium. It's an easy way to cover those bases. It's funny to see the different things that people are eating. I'm three weeks out now and on a soft diet. Mashed potatoes 1/4 cup is a delicious treat! Baked beans have good protein and stay down well too. I had a little trouble with deli roast beef. Even though it was thinly sliced and very tender, it balled up in my pouch and caused considerable distress until I tossed it...a little ball about the size of a medium olive. Cottage cheese with pineapple in it is a staple because it always feels good and a 1/2 cup portion is very satisfying and soft enough that there's no discomfort. I'm very interested in what everyone is eating and how you are dealing with the back-of-the-mind fear of somehow sabotaging even this (wonderful surgery that is a life-altering decision.)

Topic: RE: No weight loss in week 2
Your doctor would tell you that this is completely normal. I'm three weeks out and lost 1.8 lbs. the second week. I was ready for that because everyone at the bariatric center warned me. I lost 24 pounds the first week and was told it was 1/2 water and 1/2 fat, so the second week it was a big difference. Now the third week, the scales is playing with me, just like on a regular diet, down 2, up 1, down another 2...and don't dare look at it after breakfast! I get a little scared too that I won't lose my weight, that somehow I will manage to sabotage myself...but then I'm only able to eat 1/4 cup of cottage cheese for breakfast, and I realize that this will work pretty much without my interference. Isn't it wonderful to be free from hunger? Keep the faith; you're being reborn.

no I have not taken any measurements but I should have. I feel like I have lost and it seems like I can see a little weight gone but no movement of the scale sickens me, it makes me feel like I will fail at this too.

I had surgery July 15th and I lost 18 pounds during my first week but I have stayed the same during my 2nd week. Anyone else had this problem? I get 66 to 90 proteins a day and I drink alot of water. What should I do??? HELP.

Topic: RE: Tips and Tricks for BCBS of Texas?
No, I went to a separate nutrition class and I only went to him for the initial visit and after I had completed the six months classes. I am assuming that Carlos Ferrai is your physician you have selected to do your surgery. I am no expert, but that would probably work. Other ins. have clauses that state that the Dr. you visit for the nutrition appt.'s can't be the same person performing the surgery-conflict of interest. Another thing with BCBS, if you can show that you have been to WW, JC, where you can show proof that you have been to the classes for six months within the last two years, that will work as well. It has to be six consecutive months though. If you live in the Dallas area, the Dr's name was Dr. Davidson and he has a separate program through Nova Body Solutions.

Did you have to go to your pcp doctor and do the nutrition class. I am only going to my dr once a month, we talk about nutrition but he isn't a specilist in it.
