Topic: RE: Can I have a drink?
Hi Laura! I did in fact have a drink(s). I used Crystal Lite lemonade mix and added just a splash of good vodka. I made it very light, and had one both of the days I was away. I also had a couple of jello shooters made with sugar free jello, which I think hit me harder than the vodka drinks because someone else made them and they were strong!Either way, I had no problems- I slept well that night! I haven't had a drink since, and plan to save it for special ocassions. I can understand completely you wanting to have a drink on your cruise to relax a little. My only suggestion would be to stay away from the sugary stuff and instead go for wine, bloody marys, or sugar free drinks. If you fix the drink yourself you have a lot more control over how strong it is. Also, add lots of ice and sip it slowly. Have a great time on your cruise! Marcia

I am also very lonely for food. I went back to work on Monday with a limited schedule for two weeks and damn... all they do is eat at work!! So, it's been a struggle and I have maintained my 20 lbs lost, but have been the same for a few days... (can also blame that on the time of month I suppose) My surgery was July 31st.

Did you have your drink? I will be 3 months pre-op when I go on a cruise Sept. 30th. I wanted some input on what you had and if it made you sick. I know that I cannot have the sugar filled drinks (mai tai) and such but wanted some input on what I may be able to sip on.

Topic: Cat jumped on stomach during the night
I am three week post op from the lapband. My cat that weighs ten pounds jumped from the floor on top of my stomach while I was asleep on my back, it hurt me a lot and I was unable to eat solids for twenty four hours due to the pain and nausea and have had a lot more pain. I called my doctors office and they told me that this would not cause my band to slip but I have noticed that now I have started eating again that I don't feel the restriction I was feeling, being three weeks out of surgery I have not had a fill but was doing real well and have lost 21 pounds. Has anyone else had something this crazy happen and have you heard if this will slip the band. Not an urgent post but would appreciate any feed back. Thank you.

Hi Vanessa, I just want you to know I read your post and you are not alone! Tell me more about your situation. Are you eating all the protein you should? Because it's the protein that will stop the cravings, physically. I really want to snack too especially when I lie on the couch in front of of our tv at night, the location where I did most of my really bad eating. Sometimes I'm able to force up & out of that room because it does carry so many memories. Are your cravings, yearnings? Maybe you could think a bit about what you might yearn for other than food? Food's soothed us in the past but look where it got us? It's not really our friend. It's just food. We have to start thinking of new ways to soothe ourselves. Can you try to distract yourself? or go to bed early? I've done that a few times. I also keep a food diary & weigh everything now. It keeps my little hands busy writing all the stuff down. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from a nutritionist! Really, we need to ask for help. People who've had the surgery warned me, "You cannot do this alone" and now I'm beginning to see why they told me that. My heart goes out to you. You CAN do this. I'm encouraging myself as well
