I don't know what kind of follow up diet you are on but lap banders have it alittle harder than us by pass patients. If you have had 2 fills I assume your doctor is aware that you have lost only 5 pounds. My feelings it should be more but that depends on what you are eating. Remember slider foods, foods that are soft and creamy like potatoes, breads, puddings, ice cream and such, these are high carb and calorie and don't fill you up. But in any event they should of questioned this. I would be calling them and asking whats up and give you another fill!! It may take more for you. It seems for lap banders everyone is so different on how much of a fill they need to find the right amount. Have you tried the Lap band forum? Do you know any of your Doctors other patients that you can compare your fills with? You can find them in your state forum? Lap band does work and it works very well with a followed diet! You haven't failed, I just believe they haven't given you enough of a fill and I would certainly tell them that. Go back tell them to really tighten it. If it is too tight you can go back and have some removed. Good Luck!

Since my surgery of July 27th I have lost a total of 5 lbs & that was because I really worked to diet those lbs off. I have had 2 fills & can still pretty much eat however & whatever I want. I am starting to think that I have spent a whole lot of money & spent a whole lot of time psyching myself up for a very large disappointment - just another promise by the diet industry to suck losers like me in. I do have another appointment for another fill in 1 week but I am betting that that will be a bust as well. I'm starting to wish I had never heard of this
Topic: about protein ???
I heard that our bodies will only absorb 35-38 grams of protein at a time so anything over that you just lose. DOes anyone know if this is the truth?? I really need to know. Thank you for your input.

Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie here at OH. I had my RNY done on July 3,2008. I am now 10 weeks out. I have to remember "It's all in my head" I just want to taste the food I cant have anymore. It's not that I'm hungry.I lost great at first now I'm stalling. I dont know if it's normal. Or I'm messing it up (like every diet I was ever on before) I need to remember to eat. I go too long without eating.Any wayz....Good luck 2 u all. Hope 2 hear from u soon.

It is hard to break the snacking habit. Can you try forcing yourself to eat something healthier at that time--like yogurt, cottage cheese, or even a few cubes of cheddar cheese? If you can get through that, there won't be any room for the nuts! It might be a good segue...
Good luck to everyone. We're really doing this!Hi new here, could someone tell me why some words that are obviously not swear words are **** out

Topic: RE: No weight loss in week 2
I had my surgery on July 1, the first week I lost 10#, then slowly continued until I was out 4 weeks post op, I stayed the same for almost two weeks. I did have to go to ER due to dehydration and lacking minerals and vitamins. It was very scary. I am now 10 weeks post op and have lost 33#. I feel very discouraged and weight myself 3-4 times a day. I have tried the not eating, starvation, but my physician told me it was only hurting my weight loss. I have a total of 80# to lose. Is anyone else having a slow weight loss? CJK
Topic: RE: Lap Band Fills....
I have heard that this varies by insurance company. Mine is covered. Actually, my surgeon bundles the first year of these appointmentsw with his charges. I had one fill at 6 weeks and then one is scheduled once a month for the first year. These are only appointments and not necessarily fills. They evaluate you every month I am told. My surgeon tells me by my weight loss, feeling of tightness/restriction and hunger level. I have felt little restriction with only one fill. I understand the 2nd one usually does. Some people go beyond that. So, right now I maintian and lose on my willpower and changes in appetite. I do exercise every day.

Topic: RE: I need advice please~ Surgery on 7/29/08 and starving.
I felt the EXACT same way after surgery because I had been told that people didn't feel hungry at all and they had to force themselves to eat! I thought jeez did I fail or maybe the doctor just told me I had the bypass to see if it was all in my head but he did not actually do so...haha not the case obviously! After I talked to the doctor and told him about it he told me that it is pretty normal and to just try and drink more often and switch up my foods such popsicles, jello, etc. I also believed that it was head hunger because I was in the hosptial for 5 days and had NO desire to eat at all but as soon as I got home and everyone else was eating I was hungry! Once, I told myself it was head hunger I did not feel like such a failure! I let myself be mad at times and upset that I could not eat the same thing everyone else was eating and tried to make light of it by going and smelling it and saying things like "I think chicken and rice should be considered a clear liquid for today" when I wanted what everyone else was eating. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks and if was rough but I made it through and you can too!! :)
