All these posts are super! I had my surgery 7/24/08, open RNY. Of course, as they say, men lose faster than women, but you women are doing FANTASTIC! I was 385 on my surgery date and now weigh 275, lost 110. My goal weight is 225, have another 50 more to go. I joined a gym about a month ago, work out at least 4-5 times a week. Doing great, feeling super and get alot of support from my kids too! Thanks for posting this for the 7/08ers and keep on losing everyone! -Bruce.
I agree, it always helps to talk to people in the same boat as you are. Family support is also important! I am so lucky to have the family support too!!
No matter what they say about men losing faster than women, we still share the same struggles. You have done really really well!!!!
Keep in touch and everyone keep posting. Let's stick together and win this battle forEVER!

Hi -- My rny was 7/31 -- I started at 266 (5'1") and have lost 76 pounds -- was soooo excited to be under 200.
I had an EGD last week -- turns out I have a bit of a stricture, but they dilated it a little and things go down (and stay down) a lot easier now. I have an appointment to have it done again on the 24th -- as complications go, it's an easy fix. I haven't enjoyed throwing up much, but have probably lost weight faster -- so not all bad!
On the downside, I was feeling very tired all the time and nauseated, too -- so didn't do a lot of exercise the last couple of months. Feeling much better now, thankfully.
Glad to hear from some fellow July '08 folks -- hope everything continues to go well for ya. :-D

I guess it's fairly common -- surgeon said "people heal differently" -- sometimes/in some people the opening between the pouch and the intestine closes (or almost) as it heals. I believe they said it's called an anastomatic stricture. Mine happened over time, nothing dramatic -- I kept thinking I must be doing something wrong -- eating too fast, not chewing enough, who-knows-what -- so finding out there's something wrong has been a relief. Especially since it's easily fixable. :-)
Hi, I had my surgery on 7/24. I have lost 78 lbs. since my DS. I started at 253 and now weigh 275. I am doing well. I am very glad the rest of you are doing so well too. This is my first time to post on this board, and it seems very friendly. I hope that we can check in with each other another time.

Thanks for posting, everyone. It's great to hear from people who are at the same place I am with this. I had my surgery on July 16 and I've lost 68 lbs--down to 221 I too am looking forward to ONEderland!
So far, I haven't had trouble eating anything--but I do fill up very quickly so I'm not eating much. I take that back--Bread does absolutely nothing for me so I'm staying away from it, HOWEVER....one of my favorite meals is about 1/2 cup of stove top stuffing with chopped up chicken in it. So that's where I'm getting my carbs! I'm also eating pasta once in awhile, but it's the carb-resistant kind, which is much better on my body in so many ways... But mostly my meals consist of protein shakes, chili, cheese, and an occasional frozen lunch, like Michelena's salisbury steak and mashed potatoes.
I had a minor set back in September when I got a bleeding ulcer and had to go back into the hospital for a few days. Now I'm just on about 20 MORE pills per day (okay--that's a bit of an exagerration) but everything is fine.
Even during that time, I never once regretted this decision. I'm feeling better, both physically and emotionally, and I'm loving fitting into sizes I haven't been able to wear in 20 years!
Keep up the good work, everyone, and stay in touch!
Thanks!
