I was about to go into depression when I say the big numbers they were loosing then I realized that everyone else except for you and I are lap banders.  I have lost at total of 30 lbs.  My doctor tells me I am doing quite well as if I had the bypass surgery.  I went for my second fill back in October and he told me I didn't need one.  I was feeling guilty because I could eat food and was making meals probably twice a day.  I go again on the 12th.  I believe I am going to get a fill this time to see if I can lower my restriction.  My portions in my opinion are out of control.  Pray for me.

Hi there all!  I had my surgery on July 23. I had Lap RNY  I started at 302 as of today I am at 222... 80 lbs down!  OMG I am so happy!  I am so happy for all of you too you all have inspired me.  I have had no problems thank goodness.  No dumping maybe due to the fact I haven't even tried sweets and I don't intend on it.  I have not been sick I eat very slow and I stop before I am full.  I also eat with little utencils that has helped me with little bites and to slow down.  I go to the gym 3 days a week and feel great!
Just one question has anyone had or known any one who has had problems with kidney stones following Gastric bypass ... I have had such a problem with them this last month and the doctor tells me its caused from the surgery.  I can live with it after all if that what all I have to put up with even though its very painful its manageable and I don't regret the surgery a bit.  Toodles

You are doing so great!!!

Knock on wood, I have not had a problem with Kidney Stones. I have read that a high protein diet can cause them. A friend of mine is a nutrition and exercise nut and he told me that I needed to add other things to my diet. He said that too much protein heighten the risk of stones.
I started adding salads and a few whole wheat carbs (in very low moderation) to my diet. I drink a ton of water and only one cup of coffee per day. I have noticed when I drink more coffee I get a slight back ache, so I cut that out.

Did your doctor give you so instructions?

My doctor told me to drink plenty of water... I said no problem I will do anything to prevent a recurrence.  I just started eating salads.  I like to shred my lettuce up so I know I can get it chewed up better.  I do drink a cup of decaf coffee a day only cause I love the taste of it.

I had my surgery 7/2 and I am down 66 lbs (92 total).  The weight loss has definitely slowed in the past month but I am still happy with my results and taking it one day at a time.  I am still avoiding sweets.  I think its better to wait as long as possible before finding out if I dum*****t.  If I absolutely knew I could eat sweets, I would eat sweets.  I know I can eat fruit so sugar is probably fine but I like to pretend it will make me sick.  :-)

Thanks for pulling the 07/08 crew together!  I had lap RNY on 23 July 08 and all went well for about 3 weeks.  Then I started feeling so nauseated I had to get meds.  At the 3 month check-up my chem was a mess due to lack of nutrition, although I was walking a mile or so a day.  Still nauseated and having chems/labs checked by PCP now as well as surgeon.  I'm going to try switching to soy protein; can't get enough of anything.  On the great news side, I've lost 65% of the excess weight already and plan to continue losing--hopefully in a more healthy style when this nauseousness passes.  Right now it seems like it never will!  All the best to all of you!

I am so glad that several people posted. I think it is important to talk to people that are about in the same time frame you are in. It looks like we are all pretty happy with our results.

I dont know about you, but I feel so much better about the way I look and feel. My brother keeps telling me that I look hot! I have not heard this in a very very very long time. I work with him so he sees me all of the time.

I actually had a guy flirt with me the other day. Wow, that has been something that I have not had in a long time too!

You guys keep posting on this board so we can all keep in touch!!

LAURA, I feel and move so much better--and my husband loves the new look.  I actually weigh less than I did when we married.  The best surprise was my 20 year old daughter telling him "nobody better hit on Mom when we go to the mall!"
