Exercise!
Most start out walking mostly because we are still to big to do much else. It is a chore because your body is in shock and wants to crawl in a cave and lick these new wounds. The farther out you get you might try the pool when the doctors says it's ok. You have to be extremely careful not to try doing weight machines till your insides are pretty healed and you get the go ahead. Keep building up your time. If you can do it carry some light hand weights if you want and pump it when your walking. But at this point walking and increasing your time is really good for now.
