help
today is day 4 and i am miserable. i have a ton of pain and i feel like i am breathing from my incisions. it hurts.. i am walking 10 mins. 2x day but am so weak. i am wondering why i did this to myself. here come the tears. the food, or lack of, and the liquids are not bothering me yet. it's the pain. i can not find a comfortable position. it's 108 outside so a nice walk will not cut it. what should i try???? i can not imagine this for the next month. i am on loratab but am using it sparingly. don't care to be comatose all day. tylenol is not touching it. today, i hate this.
Hi Shannon -- Sorry you're feeling so bad. I haven't had my surgery yet, but from what I've read on here it sounds like the first week is the worst, then the pain usually gets better. Sounds like being comatose might be an improvement over what you're going through -- maybe taking the pain meds will help. Hope it gets better.
Hi Shannon,
Why makes yourself crazy. Take the pain meds, that's what they are there for. I used Tylenol #3, has some codeine in it, an RX, works well. The first week is the worst, it gets better, I know this. My lap RNY was 4/30/08 and I felt just like you do now. At three months out I have lost 64 lbs and feel good. Next week will be better. The week after even better. Stay hydrated. Relax and rest. Take the pain meds, especially for sleep. Hold a pillow over your belly, it can help if you cough or sneeze, laugh, etc. This light pressure can even help. We have all been where you are now. It is so worth it!
Good luck and feel good.
Andrea
Hey Shannon,
Chin up....it will get better. I promise. I am 4 weeks out and feeling great. It took about a week and half before I stopped feeling like you do right now! I slept in a recliner cause I couldn't get comfortable in bed. TAke the pain meds. I live in Arizona and it's about the same temp here, so I just walked around the house. Boring....but it beat outside!
I felt exactly as you do at this time period......hope this helped a little!
