Abdominal Plasty

I had my tummy tuck done in June. I am worried because my belly button keeps oozing. There is no odor, however the ooze looks like pus and there is some blood. It crusts over and when I clean it, it comes back. I showed the plastic surgeon and he says this is normal. It has been 7 weeks since surgery and even with the doctors reassurance, I am still nervous this isn't good. Any advise?

Having worked in the medical field for 16 years I can tell you this is normal. When you have had surgery your body has lymph which will ooze as it is healing. As long as there is not any odor or swelling and redness you should be okay. It sometimes takes several months for this to completely go away. Jus****ch the area and keep it clean. If it keeps concerning you see your PCP and see if he/she thinks there is room for concern. Good luck Barbara
