Lovena, I don't think seeing your port is that big a deal.....as the swelling goes down I bet that disapears. The gas pain will probably last for about a week. I have had other surgeries also and the gas takes a while to disapate. I stuck with clear liquids for a week post op. Don't push too much at one time.....take everything slowly. Sip! Hope this helps. Lovena, I can't see my port but can feel it. I had my surgery 7 days ago. What helped me with my gas was laying with my head on the floor and butt/hips in the air ( sorry for the visual) and also the other way around lying flat on my back with pillows under my hips. I would lay in these positions for about 15-20 mins. I also read someone took an Anti-inflammatory pill so I took one also. I would make sure it is okay with your doctor first. Anti-inflammatory can cause ulcers or erosion if left sitting in the stomach. Make sure you flu**** out good with water. I did the above 3 things one after the other and I felt instant relief for the first time. Even the shoulder and side of neck pain went away. Walking helped some and I walked 1-2 miles a day. I also took all kinds of stuff, gas-x, maalox, lactaid, and none really helped. Also a heating pad does help a little. I did take Titralac and it seemed to help more than the others. Found it at Walmart ( small white bottle with yellow top and green and blue labeling.) You have to look really, really hard for it or you will miss it. Sorry for the long drawn out reply but the gas for me was the worst, I couldn't function and so I want to share what helped me. Hope it helps you too. Good luck!
