Surgery date 10-Excited and nervous

I'm having lap-band surgery on July 10 and as time dwindles away I'm having mixed feelings. Not about whether I want to go through with it but I'm unsure how I am going to get through the emotional side of this. Food has been my pal for a long time..we're best friends..grown up together. I'm very scared of the liquid-diet-week.

hi, there. I wish you luck on the lapband. I am doing the liquid diet and have only lost 5 lbs and i am on my second week. My surgery is 7/15/08. Hope all is well. Who is your surgeon? I am in West Houston. I have a friend you had lap band surgery who works out in Alvin and she has lost over 100 lbs in a year and 8 months. keep in touch. Yes, i am losing my best friend too, but we need a new best friend : i am thinking about taking up an new hobby Jodie

Hi Jodie, Thanks for your well wishes! My surgeon is Robert Marvin. Where does your friend work? Alvin is such a small town... I'm needing to lose 80 lbs which is a little overwhelming but I like that fact that I will feel full. Good luck with your surgery! Leslie

Leslie: My friend works at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is in the youth ministry there. She had Dr. Felix Spiegel. I wish I needed to lose 80lbs but I need to lose 150. I went walking today and am drinking my protein drink before i relax and go to bed. Good luck tomorrow. My prayers are with you. Hey! I'm sure that my aunt Diane and uncle Tom know her. They've gone to Sacret Heart forever. I'll have to ask them. Dr.Speigel would have been my next choice. I chose Dr. Marvin because 3 people at work went to him and I NEEDED to see the results before I even considered it. Well it's done. The surgery is over. I woke up to take my pain medication and decided to check my email. I am a really big baby and I am in pain. I have 5 little incisions and I have a small bottle of anesthesia attached to me. The actual cuts really don't bother me. I guess it's the lap band site that is causing me so much discomfort. I hate to think that how it will feel shen that little pump is removed. It hasn't bothered me that I haven't been able to eat either. I haven't been hungry. I have noticed that I almost have an instincual desire to grab and chunk any peice of food that I see on the counter. Wow! Thank you for your prayers and I too pray to lose the weight that I need to in the most healthful way. I don't want to look sick. I'll write more later. Leslie

Leslie: How was your Sunday?You are now three days post? I understand about the food. I want to grab too, but the Dr. told me that he would not do the surgery if my liver is large. But also, do you notice how much more will power you have knowing that you have this new tool? You can do it. I have another friend that had the lapband, she is about 3 or 4 months post. She has lost about 30 lbs. she can still eat a happy meal I don't think all at one sitting but she can still eat it. I am going to try and figure out how to post my picture. I am planning to take a picture tomorrow of me in my underwear and bra for a before picture and then we can see where it takes me. Hope your off the pain meds. Jodie
