My spouse woke me up at 4:30 this morning and told me he does not want me to have the surgery... I was floored. He had gone with me to support groups and was all for it. I am not sure what to do.

I think that my husband was nervous too, but he never told me that. He was just supportive like yours was and went to support groups, BUT when it comes closer to the time, we all get more nervous. You will be fine and it is SO SO worth! Say your prayers and go for it, God will take care of you.

Many times the spouse is afraid of the changes that will come. Your relationship will change, it can't help but do so with all the changes you'll be going through. Many spouses also wonder if you'll leave when you're this hot babe. Reassure him that the two of you are in this together through thick or thin. Then remind him how much healthier you'll be and how many more things you'll be able to do because of it. Good luck and let us know how it goes. It's a big change for both of you. 7/9/8 ---jan---

hey there Michelle, I'm nervous too, and my church family and co-workers say don't do it you look great now ( at 230lbs and 5'2) and i said i am doing it. but to my point for you i love my spouse as you do and mine is against it to but, THIS IS FOR ME for the 1st time in my life,. he went to my support groups and preached to me all the way about you just have to push away from the table - well im pushing away from people that say NO!!

Just remind him of the reasons you are having it done. I know it has to be frightening to him because you will be going through so many changes but remind him how much you love and appreciate him for sticking with you. I wish you the best of luck!

I had my surgery June 24th. I was also floored by the comments of you.. not you.. I was 5'4 and 256 pounds.. yeah me. But then I realized that change is hard for people they don't know what to expect. My family was so worried about surgery. Then I reminded them.. I run a 6% chance of co morbitiy issues that aren't resolveable. Plus insurance companies aren't giving this away so it's not like you walked in and said... sure one weight loss surgery. Facts and stats is what worked for my family. I also told them I understand their fears but I need to do this and if they can't support me I need to know it now so I don't go to them during the recovery. Just my thoughts.
