Topic: RE: Anyone else having problems with low blood sugar?
This just happend to me on Saturday 12/13/2008. I'm an actor and was on stage when I got light headed and dizzy. I brushed it off, but it happened two more times before the end of the matinee show.

Then during the dinner break (I knew I needed something to eat), I started feeling dizy and nauseaus, and my limbs and face went all numb and tingley. I had no idea that this was a blood sugar thing. I had Type II diabetes before my surgery, but once that went away, I stopped checking my blood sugar levels (I don't even have any strips anymore). I'm almost a year post op (1/30/09 will be my anniversary) and this is the first time this has ever happened.

So I had a friend take me back to the theatre (we still had an evening performance to give) so I could lay down. I found that I had trouble walking. I was so confused and scared that I was on the verge of tears. I had to have help walking to the car and then again from the car back into the theatre.

I thought maybe I'd gotten dehydrated again, so I was sipping watter, but that wasn't helping. The room was spinning, and I was tingley all over, and I started shivering. I got under a blanket and had someone hold a hair dryer under the blanket for me. I was SO cold!

I was about to go to the ER when someone else came back from dinner and said that it sounded like low blood sugar. I got some OJ and a Snickers bar, and started feeling better within about 20 minutes. The shaking went away, the tingeling went away, and accept that I dumped on the candy bar (really badly) I felt better. I was able to go on with the show (thank god) and now I'm just out trying to learn what I can about low blood sugar especially in connection with RNY.

Well, they took 11 pounds of skin from my tummy.  I'll be posting pics soon, so check my profile.  I will require us to be friends since I don't want pervs looking at my naked pics!!  I look really, really good. In fact, I just want to stare at myself. I haven't looked this good since my late teens.  I just can't beleive the difference.  It also seems that my weight is falling off again since I have had no appetite since surgery.  That's a good thing since I still wanted to lose about 10 more pounds and i was more or less at a stand still.  My breasts are perky and look like that of a 20 year old and my tummy is FLAT, FLAT, FLAT!!  It's unreal.  Now for the bad part...it does hurt.  It's not terrible, it's manageable with pain meds, but the soreness is deep and the walking all hunched over causes your backand thighs to hurt since they are taking up the slack.  Finding a comfortable way to sleep is also a challenge and the drains suck, but overall...IT"S SO WORTH IT!!  I have no regrets.  I went in wearing a size 10/12 before surgery and would almost guarantee I'll be an 8, possibly a 6.  I can not wait to tuck in my shirt and wear a belt.  It's my LAST WLS goal.  I'm happy to answer questions, so feel free to ask!

Topic: RE: Weekly Weigh In-- Almost 14 months out, peeps! How are you?
I was starting to think I was the only one stalled.... I have been at the same weight for abot 4 months give take five pounds during the month... no real gain, no real loss...

Surgery weight: 285
Last week: 158
This week: 156ish

Still go to the gym, probably eat too many carbs... and now know for sure, I can eat anything in this world... so knowledge is a dangerous thing and I am trying to use that wisely.  I do not ever want to go back to that place where I was... so trying to use all the things I know and be a good role model for the newbies I know... that is positive pressure!

I am doing more than thinking about plastic surgery, I am having a breast lift and tummy tuck on MONDAY!!  I am nervous, but excited.  Just nervous about the pain, but I truly believe the results will be worth it.  If all goes well, I want to do my arms next...I'd love to do something with my thighs, but I am more scared about those than anything, so I may just have to live with them!  I feel like I am at the very last stage of this journey and unzipping the last layer of my fat suit.  Best of luck to you!

ps.  Your avatar is just beautiful...you look fantastic!

I am more or less done losing-- and will be having a blepharoplasty and mini face lift this winter, and a brachoplasty/mastoplexy/abdominoplasty this summer. I won't be having the lower body lift-- I find the results are "boxier" than I like, and won't work well with my body shape--and hell, I don't want 360 degrees of circumferential OUCH anyway!

Hey there. I'm doing well here. I reached my goal back in August, and have been maintaining it since then (so about 3 months). :) I allow 2 lbs. of fluctuation on either side before I worry about losing too much or gaining too much...and so far, so good. Haven't hit the "too much" or "too little" side of that limit yet.
