Hello! I also had my RNY on July 18th!!! I too was stuck at a plateau 2 WEEKS after surgery. My plateau lasted almost 2 weeks. I was furious. I thought that I had went through all of this and I wasn't even going to lose more than 20 pounds. After the plateau was over I started losing again. Are you exercising?? Maybe you should try to step up a notch on that. Anyway, good luck! Congrats on losing 30 pounds!!! Leslie

I guess just because I'm not using protein supplements doesn't mean that I'm not getting protein. I eat cheese, egg whites, peanut butter, etc. I started looking at the things that I eat and the amount of protein in them, so I am probably getting a decent amount. I guess that's why my surgeon has me eating stuff like that!

I started a plateau at week #2 after surgery... talk about disheartening... Even though the scale isnt moving you will be loosing inches... so watch out for your clothes falling off of you... LOL My doctor said your weightloss will be a stair step kinda thing... you will loose a bunch... then stay the same ... then loose some more... then stay the same... just like a stair. It is very normal. I also figured that I wasnt eatting enough... and tried to add some more food.. but since I am never hungry also... it was very hard. You are doing great.... keep up the good work

Hi Masry; I had surgery on 7/18 and have been stalled at 28lbs for 4 weeks. I feel the same as you about losing my 'quick loss' window. My Dr told me I wasn't eating enough and my body thinks it is starving so it is holding on to the fat...lucky me!! Keep me posted as to your loss, and if anything works to 'speed it up', and I will do the same. The good news is, that at least we are going down in size and it is not coming back. Have you measured how many inches you have lost?

I had surgery on 7/18 and so far I have lost 30lbs. I was STUCK at 28lbs for 4 weeks, and wanted to throw the scale out of the window. I have lost 54inches and my clothes are all loose, but I am getting very frustrated at the plateau so early on. I don't think I was eating enough or getting enough calories, so I have tried to eat more (which is hard since I am never hungry). Has this happened to any of you and if so what did you do to 'jump start' the weight loss again? My Dr. told me to try to eat more as my body thinks it is starving and is holding on to the weight. I never thought I would say this, but since I am never hungry, food almost repulses me and nothing sounds good. Any ideas???

WOW, you guys are doing great! I don't exercise at all yet. I want to, but I'd rather take a nap when I get a moment to myself. I need to get my butt in gear and start walking. My surgeon told me the difference between really succeeding at this, and just doing ok, is exercise. He wants me to succeed and said he worries about me. I need to get in gear!

I'm not one to get a ton of protein either. When I don't get very much protein I don't lose weight. Well, I recently found Special K Protein Meal Replacement bars, and snack bars. The Meal bars have 10 grams of protein and they taste really good. I have two a day. That gives me 20 grams...and then with an egg in the morning, and some protein at night I"m good. It's the fluids I need to work on, but that's another post LOL! I'm also a lightweight. I started at 226 and I'm at 176 now. I've lost 50 lbs in almost 11 weeks. Hang in there.
