Weekly wight in...
Thanks Heidi!
I'm getting in about 1000-1100 calories a day. I try to keep it as close to 40%/30%/30% (protein/carbs/fat) as I can.
Exercise, since surgery I've mostly been walking, but I have started a new workout DVD "kick boxing for dummies". I really like it! I'm also reading "weight training for dummies" and will start lifting weights before the end of the week. I kick myself for not liifting all along. My muscles aren't weak, but they aren't defined either. Though I have the horrible bat wings, I want to have defined bat wings! LOL!
And I had some great legs in high school from all my dance classes. I want those well defined legs back! And I want to see how tight I can get my ab muscles before I start doing plastics next spring.
I don't know if how I've been doing things is ideal for the average RNYer, but for me it seems to be working.
I think back on all my diets from the past and how doing Jenny Craig I was restricted to 1200 calories a day. I was starving ALL day long. It sucked. But the beauty of WLS, I'm rarely ever hungry and now I'm satisfied and full ALL day long. It is amazing!
Thanks again!
Andi
I've been digging the 40/30/30 model myself. Thing is, I'm still getting in 850 calories a day, and am convinced it's not enough-- but when I ask the Nuts, they say, "You should be fine." I'm lacking in energy and finding it hard to fit in the good carbs I need (fruit, veggies) at this low calorie level.
Comparatively, my post op losses have been very slow-- but that's likely because I lost my initial big globs of weight pre-op, and I guess they don't come off twice. ;)
I'm generally satisfied, except this week-- Spring Break. Too much idle time, and feeling snacky. I'll be happy to get back to a more normal routine.

Hey Shari,
It sucks that you are still dealing with the low energy. While I think it is great you are listening to your Nuts, maybe your body isn't? I really don't know. But maybe your body doesn't see you as an 8 month post-oper but rather a 1 year out post-oper. If you were a year out from surgery would your Nuts recommend more calories? Or do they feel that 850 is fine until you reach goal? Just looking at if from a different angle, but you may have already looked at that.
It would be nice to have a straight forward answer to what is causing your low energy. We know there are a lot of reasons that can cause it. If you have had your blood work done recently and your b12, iron, blood sugar levels are all normal, looking at calorie intake is probably a good next step.
About the weight loss slowing down, I think we are all slowing down. It is true though, you probably slowed sooner then most of us because of your awesome loss pre-op. So you've been dealing with it longer then the rest of us. But I'm not all too convinced you are a slower loser Take a look again at the Julyers losses sense surgery. I'd say the current average loss is around 95-100 lbs (not including Rachel's crazy loss amount ). You aren't too far off from that, right?
I don't know if you hear it enough but I think your loss has been excellent! In just over a year you've lost over 155 lbs! Sure that is just a number, but that number tells us so much. It tells us that you are gaining your health, you are able to exercise easier and have better quality workouts, your shortness of breath has greatly improved, you are more likely taking care of yourself better now than you ever have before, etc. That doesn't mean we didn't like or love ourselves before surgery. Of course we did! That is one of the reasons we chose to have WLS because we loved ourselves and desired a better way of life for ourselves. Like you said, the surgery has helped us stay more satisfied with the lower consumption of calories, which helps encourage us not to give up and to continue to take care of ourselves.
I know you must be tired of feeling tired. I hope you figure it out soon!
Andi
P.S. Sorry didn't mean to write you a book
