100 Pounds Gone
Hi everyone and congratulations!
I had my surgery in July also, but am not losing much weight. I have lost about 25 lbs.Can you all tell me about what you have been doing to lose all the weight?
Are you exercising and if so how much how often? Are you able to eat much? Like I can eat about 1/2 of what I used to eat. I am very very very upset with myself. I feel like such a failure. I keep hoping the scale will change but it has not for like 2 months!
Any input would be helpful. I go to see my surgeon on the 3rd of December. Thanks
Hi Arlene:
My heart goes out to you. I was SO scared when I met with my surgeon the last time. I was terrified that I hadn't lost enough compared to other people. They helped me to feel better and get focused by offering the following encouragement that I'm passing on to you now. I hope it helps!
1. Everyone loses at their own rate. Try not to compare yourself to others. The fact that you HAVE lost weight is proof that it's working.
2. Write it down. Keeping a food journal that lists what you ate, when you ate it, your hunger rating (from 1 to 10, 1 being not hungry & 10 being over stuffed) PLUS how you were feeling emotionally before/after are keys to understanding what factors may be affecting your weight loss. Include your medications & supplements on the list.
3. Drink. Staying hydrated can boost your metabolism by up to 3%.
4. Move your body. Do something that you truly enjoy or have always wanted to do. Keep it simple & enjoyable. You can even break it up into small pieces during the day. Any movement will boost your metabolism.
5. Sleep. Get enough rest so your body can re-charge.
6. It's a marathon, not a sprint. It will take time to get to your goals and you will encounter obstacles along the way. What you learn from the journey & how you can incorporate what you've learned for the long-haul is what's important.
All my best wishes,
Charity
