Just Wanted to Share a Protein Tip:
Try putting your protein powder(I use Vanilla flavored Maximum Protein (GNC) 1 scoop is approx. 25 grams of protein) into your morning coffee with a bit of Silk coffee creamer (Soy Sugar Free) and a couple of packets of equal (or whatever you prefer) It tastes great and it's a great way to get in your first blast of protein for the day! You can knock out about 30 grams of protein just in one cup. Make every thing you put into your mouth count! Does anyone else have a "tip" to give? Maybe we can start a "Tip of The Week / Day" post? Whadda Ya Think?
It can't be too hot or it cooks the protein. If I use the office coffee pot, the temperature is just right, but sometimes when I use the microwve, it's too hot and I get a lumpy mess too. Just start at about 1.5 minutes in the microwave, add the powder, and mix...then heat it 30 seconds more if needed and you'll be fine. Once the powder is mixed well, you can get it much hotter without the mess.
Okay...here's another tip of the day. Well, it's really just a new discovery for me. The spritz type salad dressing! It only has 10 calories for like 10 squirts and it's very tastey! I find that I can use very little and still get tons of flavor with no sugar and no fat. Give it a try!

Do you like it? I really do...I can't taste the protein and when I use vanilla it almost seems just like creamer. You can use chocolate powder and it makes a mocha! Oh, you can also use the sugar free syrups (Davinci) and change the flavor up a bit more and it hides the protein taste even more! Oh, and sometimes I warm up a cup of fat free milk (extra 13 grams of protein) and use the chocolate protein powder like hot cocoa. I add a little drop of peppermint extract and a little dollop of sugar free whip cream and it makes a yummy little night cap! Give it a try!
Hi, Francine! Love the idea of a "Tip of the Week/Day" post!!! I discovered Splenda Flavor Blends in French vanilla and Mocha for my coffee. No protein but great taste! Will have to try the protein powder in my coffee. You are so right about making what we eat COUNT! My doc is discouraging the protein powders and wants me to eat "real food" for my protein. I do try to do that, slowly adding things, but without my protein bars or powder, I'd never make the 60ish grams of protein daily that he recommends. Nice to see you joining in! Love your ideas! Jean
