calories
i don't have a nutritionist (insurance wont cover it and i can't afford it) but my doc said at this stage there not worried about my calorie intake but i eat between 700-900 calories a day..i wanted to know if anyone else here is doing the same? and if this is bad? i know that people(non wls) on diets eat about 1200 so i'm still less than that...
go to www.fitday.com to keep track of your food intake everyday. It will calculate calories, protein, fat etc....for you. It's a great tool.
i tried to track on there for the first few days out of surgery, and it made me insane since not everything is entered and you have to add it yourself.
I have not added, counted or measured since then. I have become a good judge as far as what's good to eat, quality wise, and how much of it I can eat. It's still not much at all, but I know it's not nearly what I should be getting in a days calories, protain and liquids. The important part is that I'm learning new behaviors and I'm trying VERY VERY hard!!!
I am just over 2 months out (on the 9th), and I typically have anywhere between 750 and 950 calories a day. My NUT had said that I have "up to" 1200 cals per day, more if exercising. I haven't broken 1000 calories a day yet...and I'm having basically 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks per day. Basically, I'm eating something ever 2 to 3 hours. I get between 60 (minimum) and 85 grams of protein per day, between 15 and 30 grams of fat per day, roughly 100 grams of carbs per day, and between 20 and 30 grams of fiber per day.
I had been doing 600-700 calories a day, 60+ grams of protein. I saw my surgeon on Monday and he wants me to eat at least 1000 a day. I've found I can really up the calories by adding a handful of cashews. They are really good for you and have the right kind of fats. It's nice to be able to do it with something small, because I have enough trouble trying to fit the 600-700 in as it is!
