Hi, all! Just wondering how everyone is doing? By the looks of the Monday morning weigh-in, we are doing well in that dept! How about mood, energy, etc? I've been feeling pretty good and have noticed more energy. I'm feeling hopeful that finally, I will be able to loose this wt! I really gave up trying for a long time and still find it difficult to believe that I have lost 60lbs. I tried my winter coat on yesterday and it is really baggy! That felt fantastic! Of course, I wish all the wt was gone...you know, immediate gratification! Hope everyone is doing well, take care, Jean

Hi Jen.. I was going to post the same thing... LOL... we need to get this board active again.. LOL I am doing fine... I had a stricture and got that fixed on Friday... yeahhhh... I feel so much better having that done. I do think I have one problem... since I was throwing up so much(everytime I ate) from the stricture, I am very leary of eatting food. I drink lots of milk to get protein and calcium in (I do take my calcium pills) since I cant stand any of the Protein supplements that I have tried, and I think I have tried them all. I drink atleast 10 cups of milk in a day (skim of course) and that is 9 grams of protein per cup, so I am getting 90+ grams of protein in a day (very happy with that). So what are yall eatting??? I am cleared to eat just about anything I want to (on plan of course). I just bought some thin sliced lunch meats (turkey, ham, chicken) and some thin sliced cheese to make roll ups... but i am just about out of ideas for things to eat... nothing sounds good at all. Yogurt is yucky (technical term...LOL) now but I use to love it Pre-Op Cottage Cheese is just gross now too I have thrown up eggs and dont want to try them again... LOL I think I have thrown up almost everything before my stricture was diagnosed so I am leary to eat anything that made me sick in the past. Gosh this got long... LOL SORRY

Hi, Susie! So, glad to hear you have recovered from the stricture! I feel so lucky not to have had any complications! You are doing much better than me getting in your protein! I'm really trying to work on that this week. I can't stand the lunch meats but still like yogurt and cottage cheese (with pineapple). I really can't eat much, 3oz of cottage cheese with a little fruit ****tail, a 6oz container of SF, lo fat yogurt. Think I'm going to go back to drinking a protein drink daily. I think I'm supposed to be anyway but I got a little lazy. I love milk, at least I used to, will have to try that and see how it goes. I've heard the Carnation instant breakfast mixes are good. Have you tried them. I also like the unflavored Unjury (bought online). I'm kinda scared to eat for different reasons than fear of upchucking...worried I will stop loosing! I know that's nuts but, oh well....... good to hear from you, take care, Jean

Hey there... I'm new to your forum, so I'm just now jumping in on the discussion I have had several days over the last week when trying some new foods and when eating too fast. So my motto for the this week is "back to basics". The "basic" foods that I tolerate well include: yogurt, soy milk, Unjury protien powder, Hormel 97% fat free turkey chili with beans, cottage cheese & sugar free popsicles. Got wiped out on Saturday after working several days at my boutique from 8am until 10:30pm ... running up & down ladders, moving artwork and racks of clothing, etc. So my other motto for this week is "take it slow ... don't over do it". After reading a number of postings on the general forum, I had been feeling like a failure concerning the rate of my weight loss. But now I am MUCH encouraged after talking with Abigail at UC Davis. Her first piece of advice: Don't compare myself to other people! Apparently, at a Pre-Op weight of 277 and 5'5" tall, Abby said that had 130 lbs of excess body weight to lose. So as of today I have lost 24% of what I need to lose AND I'm right on track! Wee-ha! I'm on my way ... Pre-Op Weight: 277 / Current Weight: 245 / Total Loss: 32 lbs Hope you all have a great week Charity

Hi, Charity! Thanks for posting on what you're eating...gives me some ideas! I'm going to try the turkey chile! I don't remember what was said about how much I can expect to loose as a result of WLS...will need to remember to ask NUT or doc at next appt. Good going, Charity! Jean

My energy level is fine, I think it took about 4 weeks to feel like myself again. I've battled through a few episodes of craving bad food, everything from donuts, to fried chicken to cheeseburgers to ice cream. I notice that the cravings are fewer and farther in between. I'm back into almost all of my "skinny clothes" I was wearing when I had lost 50+ pounds on weigh****chers. (pictures are on my profile) It's kind of weird since I've only lost 30, I didn't think I'd be back in them so soon. I have one pair of size 20 jeans that I want to get back into. Everything after that will be new, unchartered territory. Today, I'm back in high heels. It feels great and I want to go out and buy all new shoes. I walk three nights a week after work and now I want to add weight-lifting to build and tone muscle. Life is good.

Good to hear from you, Monica! I never was a shoe person but turned into one! I love shoes! I have bought so many sandals this summer! Sounds like you have done well fighting off the cravings. Mine are getting less and less, tool I discovered cheesy popcorn for a treat. It helps me when I'm wanting a crunchy snack. Bonus...it has some protein!!! Glad "Life is good"! Jean

Hi Everyone! Glad the board is getting active again. I am doing well with a good loss last week. Actually, surprisinigly well. I have not vomited once since surgery and nothing really seems to bother me. Sometimes I even wonder if they did anything in there or if the scars were just to convince me to eat less! Once or twice I have gotten that feeling that oops, I ate too much. Had to keep breathing deep and lay down and ask myself why in heck I did that. But honestly, that has only been once or twice. I cannot say that I get the overwhelming "full" feeling everytime I eat. I try to weigh my foods so that I am only eating 3-4oz at each meal. On the weekends I have to watch myself because rather than 3 square meals, I find myself grazing all day long. Got to keep myself in check. I really need to start concentrating on taking my calcium and vits everyday. I am not a huge milk drinker and desperately need the calcium. I did buy some foods at the store this weekend. One item was the Kashi go lean cereal. It has a ton of protein and paired with a cup of milk I get a double boost of protein and calcium. Did have to put a little splenda on top though. Also picked up some fat free beef jerky...YUMMO!! 80 calories for 1 oz and 12 grams of protein. I say that is a good snack. Pouchy liked it fine! For lunch today I had about 3/4 of a small chili from wendys and about a 1/2 of a side salad. Seemed like alot when it was sitting in front of me, but I felt better that I wasn't able to eat it all. My new frustration is that I have nothing to wear!!!!! I work at a bank so we have to dress nicely and I go to the closet in the morning and everything I put on is like a tent. Now, I know, I could have much worse complaints but I find it hard to spend a lot of $$ right now on clothes that I will not wear for long. I did find 3 pairs of pants-2 for $12 each and one for $5 but they are too tight. I can barely get them buttoned and will not wear in public. So I am like in this inbetween stage. I am finally starting to feel better about myself and want to look cute but I don't have anything to look cute in and don't want to spend a ton of $$. Okay that is my beef for now... Keep up the great work everyone!!!

Hi, Amanda! Thanks for posting some of your protein foods! I really needed some ideas! I am going to get jerky and Kashi right after work! Thanks a bunch! Yeah, I am beginning to need new clothes too! I tried my leather jacket on this weekend and it was actually LOOSE! That was COOL! I'm going to check out Good Will this weekend and try to make it to a clothing swap put on by some OH members in my state (MN). Good to hear from you! Take care, Jean

I'm doing well. I don't need to take naps anymore. Well maybe once and a while but that's just me. I have much more energy. All my 24's are too big and the 22's are starting to get big. The funny thing is I can't fit into 20's yet. I journal all my food and protein. The Nutritionist said I'm getting plenty of protein so sometimes I'm only drinking one drink a day. an Average day is something like B:protein drink 120/23 L: 1/4 C tuna or Salmon Salad w/2 ak-mak crackers 130/10 S: protein drink 120/23 D: 1/4 C chicken w/watermelon 110/5 Throughout the day I have about 5 sf popscyles calories: 75 total calories/ protein 555/61 If I stay down below this amount of calories I notice the pounds coming off faster.
