Weight and what do you say???

Hey all... When someone asks you how much weight you have lost by having the surgery what do you say? I usually say 34.5 pounds (the amount since surgery).. then I might add I did lose 21.5 before surgery on the liquid diet. On your weightloss tickers... what do you say. I just have my post surgical weight loss.

Hi, Susie! I include the wt lost from the pre-op diet because I never would have lost it if I wasn't having the surgery. I really gave up trying for quite awhile. I'm curious about the same thing. Jean

I was not required to do a liquid diet before surgery, I think I only lost about 5 pounds anyways. I only count everything since surgery.

I say I lost 54 since May. My ticker has all my weight.

I tell them 62 total, 37 since surgery. Just recently everyone has started to be like "holy cow, you have really lost weight!" I think if I had only lost 37 it wouldn't be as noticeable. And you know what? I am darn proud of losing 62 pounds. I have never lost that much before, ever!

I would give them my total loss, pre and post op. Now they're starting to try to figure out how much I weighed before surgery, so my new response is enough to feel much healthier. I Am Stronger Than Myself Janice

"I weighed 302 on my surgery day, 257 lbs now, so that's 45lbs in 8 weeks. I weighed 322lbs in Dec 2006 when I started the clinical weight loss program, so 65lbs total, and 103 more to go until my goal of 155lbs!"

I say if you did the work to lose the weight it counts! Pre Op and Post Op. It's all work. Take the credit for amazing commitment you have had. Those Pre Op losses were just as difficult if not more so. So count it all!

I lsot none pre surgery- maybe a couple but no liquid diet or anything. So I started from my day of surgery til today. 46 lbs since 7/12

I too quote the amount of weight loss since presurgery to date. What really gets me is when someone asked, "have you lost any weight yet?"
