A Stall?

I think I've seen this post before, but I wanted to ask the Julyers who've had a stall: How long did your stall last? What did you do to break the stall? I've been at a stall for the past three weeks. Will it ever end? It seems like I should have lost more weight by now... I started this journey at 217 and I am now at 187. My surgery was done on July 26th. What do you think? Holla at me!

20lbs in about six weeks? 3.3 lbs / week. I've been loosing about 4.5 / week, but I'm a lot bigger than you. The smaller you are the slower your loss. I think your doing great. I did stall and make sure I got enough water and protein. Also I just found out from my Nutritionist that I need to eat between 600-800 cal /day. I think I was doing this naturally but now I'm going to keep a log. Heidi

Hey Heidi! Thanks for responding to my post! I think that it would be a very good idea to start tracking everything we put in our mouths. I haven't even been counting my calories at all. I've just been concentrating on getting in as much protein as possible and making sure that everything I put in mouth besides meds and crystal light is a protein. Thanks for the idea! I'm going to start to keep a log too!!! Thanks again Heidi!

2 1/2 weeks Walking 1 extra lap and increasing my speed slightly Yes, it will end. Don't allow yourself to get discouraged, it will pass. I lost 28 lbs in the 1st 2 1/2 weeks, then stalled for 2 1/2 weeks. When you start loosing again, you'll get a new burst of energy and enthusiasum. It will come off! I Am Stronger Than Myself Janice

Thanks for the encouragement Janice! I really need it! I haven't started a routine exercise regimen yet cause I've been trying to move and attending every football practice and game that my two boys have, so I thought that was probably enough exercise and sweating to get me by. But, it looks like I'm going to have to get a routine in. I think I'm going to hit the treadmill for 30 mins about three days a week or maybe just 15 mins a day everyday to start. Thanks again!!!!

Hi Francine Don't get discouraged it happens to all of us A vet told me just keep doing what you do i.e protein, liquids. She also said among others, that your body is wondering what is going on it needs to adjust after a huge weight loss My stall lasted about two weeks. I have been weight training swimming and doing the treadmill about three times a week but I've stepped that up to 5 days. Anyway the poundage will come off give it time... Carla

If you haven't been in an exercise routine yet, then I would deffinately just start with the 15 minutes of walking. You'll be amazed at what this little effort will accomplish! I would however increase it to at least 30 minutes over the next week or two and you'll see the weight fall off fairly quickly! Just remember, you do have to do some work to help it along.
