EGD - Has anyone had to have this procedure??

I am eating very,very little. Seems like after the first two small bits - I get a sensation in my chest as if I can't eat anything else - sometimes it feels as though nothing has gone down to my stomach - like its stuck in my chest. I went to my 4 wk check up and was told that I needed to have a EGD done - EGD (upper endoscopy) with biopsy. Has anyone had this procedure done? Please share. My appointment is 12 noon tomorrow. ~Melanie

Have had it twice. Once as a pre-op test and once as a post-op diagnostic (they thought I might have stomal stenosis (where the connection from pouch to intestines gets closed up, usually because of swelling). I was sufficiently drugged up. They say it is a sedation plus a memory blocker but I was definitely out of it. Better living through pharmaceuticals!!

I had it done before surgery to check for ulcers. I did have one starting in my esophagus. I got to the surgery center early morning. Changed into a robe. Answered a bunch of questions three different times, like age name birthday. They put in an IV. After about an hour wait they wheeled me into a small room, hooked up some drugs and I woke up a while later. I felt a little loopy after but that was it. Best wishes. Heidi
