Okay Julyers I had to search my Bariatric Bible and this is what it says: Remember to sip slowly and frequently. Also remember that carbonated drinks and use of straws are not recommended for the first six months following surgery because they can lead to discomfort and gas. When I found out that I couldnt use a straw my daughter said How are you going to do that because that's how I drank practically everything. One day we we're coming from somewhere and she had a drink in the car with a straw and I reached over(old habit ) and took a sip after I sipped it I realized it was a straw and then I got paranoid because I was waiting for the horrendous gas bubble that never came. Still didn't try to use a straw though until the cup suggestion and I been loving it ever since AND NO GAS!!!!
