Hi Tammy I'm so sorry that things are not working out for you. I live in Canada so I really dodn't understand the health system in the US. We do have universal health care in Canada but it does not cover lap band surgery, which really angers me because they would save so much more money on the health related issues. I had lap band surgery last Tuesday, I had to fly 2000 miles to get it, there is a clinic a little closer but the waiting list is up to five years, so I flew to Toronto, with my husband, (I only had to wait a couple of months). I had to pay for everything myself, but we just felt that I was worth it and we did it by borrowing and so on, luckily I am working and I will be able to pay it off. I do hope something will turn up for you, I am praying for you. I did get the surgery and am feeling better each day I hope that you too will be able to have the surgery really soon. Is there noone in your state who does it? I, like you felt that it was the surgery for me, I really didn't want the gastric bypass I know it is really successful for others but the more I reasearched the lap band the more I felt it was for me. It is very expensive but I hope something will happen for you and things will work out. Please keep me posted...I will be thinking of you. Sheri

In no way am I trying to talk you out of the lapband surgery, but if your insurance won't cover it, but will pay 100% of the bypass, why not go for it? You're health has gotten worse over the past 6 years, and is only going to get worse as time goes on if you don't do something about it. I was set on getting the lapband surgery until I researched more and found more pros for the bypass than what I would experience with the band. Not that it isn't effective and wouldn't work, I just need more restriction than what that band would allow. I wish you all the best, and don't sell yourself short! Take a closer look and really decide what means the more to you. Hugs, Jessica
