Hi everyone! I had my surgery on Tuesday, at 8:30am and was released from the hospital about 2 hrs ago. I'm doing pretty well. Tuesday and Wednesday were kind of rough.. I remember wondering if I had done the right thing. But Thursday and today were much better... and I know I DID the right thing. ;) Still having a bit of trouble gettting in the required amount of fluids... but I think most of that is due to me not knowing when I am full or not... I'm afraid to go "over the limit" so I end up stopping when there really is no reason to. Tonight for dinner I had 2 tbls of small crude cottage cheese.. and boy did it taste good! Took me about 15 minutes to eat it. My husband bought me a couple sippy cups so now I will concentrate on getting 1 bottle for Isopure in the next 24 hrs then I plan on having an egg for breakfast. Anyway... just wanted to touch base with everyone... Has anyone heard from the other gals that had surgery on the 2nd? Hope they are doing well. Well, I'm going to go rest. I hope everyone had a good 4th. ~~jackie

Welcome home! I can't believe you're already allowed cottage cheese. the program i'm going through doesn't have you introducing even pureed foods until several weeks out. you must be doing well!

Hi Jackie I had my surgery on Tuesday and was released the same day. I had the lap band, so mine was probably not as extensive as yours. I am now allowed to eat only liquids, ( for 7 days), then I am allowed pured foods for 7. I had strained mushroom soup (1/2 cup) last night for supper and it was wonderful! I know what you mean about the liquids it is hard to drink as much as they want you to, especially when you are only supposed to sip. I am so glad things went well for you and you are now looking forward to your new life... me too! Sheri

Thanks everyone for your replies. Concerning the pureed diet.. I'm not sure what other doctors prescribe, but the only thing I can have right now is cottage cheese and eggs. Prior to surgery I was on a high protein diet consisting of only high protein shakes and bars... and that was it for 30 days... so it's nice to eat something more then just shakes and bars. I do have a question for any "vets" that might be here.... They took my drain out last night and it is still leaking today.. I wonder if I can put a small butterfly bandage across it to help close. Has anyone else had this problem?

Man, do you have it easy! I had my surgery the 2nd as well. I had to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before the 2nd. Now I am still on one for another 8 weeks After that I cant be on "soft foods" until week 9! Geez, I hope I make it
