Hi, Fellow Julys!
Just wondering how everyone is holding up, since we still have two weeks until July? I've been trying to keep my mind off it and keep busy as much as possible hoping the time will go faster. But, I am so excited to be having this surgery....finally. I've wanted it for at least 3 years and the stars have finally alligned! Is anyone going thru the Last Supper mode? Y'know...eating what you want bc you know you'll never be able to eat like that again, lol? It's my DH's birthday today, so we are going out for fajitas tonight!! Take care all, Jean
Hi Jean - I'm getting really excited too. My surgery is on July 24th. I'm having RNY Gastric Bypass. I've been spending the time reading everything I can about the surgery, potential problems, what to eat afterwards, and experimenting with recipes to find out what I like that will work. Of course, I have heard that some people's tastes change substantially after surgery, so I don't know if I'm wasting my time or not. There are a few things I intend to have one last time (my Last Supper mode ), but I think I'm going to try and keep things as light as I can to insure that I have a great outcome to my surgery. Fajitas sound wonderful -- and, they're not a bad choice unless you load them with sour cream and guacamole!
Keep in touch!
Linda
Hi, Linda! I'm having the same surg but on 7/10. Is yours going to be open or lap? I've been reading, too. Got Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies for free when I ordered some powdered protein from Unjury! Not a bad deal, haven't tried it yet tho. I'm more worried about missing foods that I love cuz they don't agree with me. Some say they can't eat ice cream anymore...OH NO! I ended up having a chimi w/ sour cream...Oh, well. Take care, Jean
Its like when you are really anxious and time seems to stop, because you cant wait for something you really want!
Except, its not doing that now, time is going so fast, my head, and everything else is spinning!!
I spend a lot of time here, reading, and learning, i havent had to much of the feeling that I wont ever be able to each certain things yet, but, having a tough time with the smoking. Chantix was incredible, til I hit week 3 without a smoke, now, I am a little edgy. But, Its all good, and I keep reminding myself!!
Best of luck to all of us!!
Betsy, waiting for July 10th!
Hi peoples,
I feel like it's too easly for me to do the last supper thing, but in reality I have been doing it for awhile. I don't start out that way though. I am really scared I will have gained a big chunk of weight and he will want to put off surg. untill I loose it, so, I am trying to watch it, but not succeeding. Maybe when it gets closer to my date I will start to get nervous and kick it in gear. Right now I'm pretty much cruisin, I've got everything done but wait. I found out how much the hosp. wanted today and I almost died. DH says not to worry about it, yeah, right! I really felt like throwing in the towel today when I heard that, and just forget the whole thing and he told me I better not dare. Just so tired of roadblocks.
Betsy, my DH is on CHantix, and now one month without a smoke. Yes, he does have edgy days, but he swears its a miracle drug because he's failed at sooooo many others and numerous attempts. Hang with it, you've come this far, it'd be dumb to back out now! Good luck! ~~~~Hugs!
Nancy, waiting on July 26th!
Hi, Betsy! Wow, you are doing great....stopping smoking and getting ready for this surgery! This site has been helpful for me too. What's Chantix? A med to help with the cig cessation? My daughters have smoked for years and they both want to quit but haven't had any success. 7/10 can't come any faster for me, how about you? Take care, Jean
Hi, Terri! I know what you mean about the what ifs! My youngest daughter (29 yrs) was so scared for me about complications, that I agreed to try one more diet and put off WLS for a year. I know she was worried and just loves me but I wish I would have went forward last year. Learning all we can seems to be the best way to alleviate fear. This group seems great about answering questions and I love that we are all going thru this together! Take care, Jean
Hi, Terri! I know what you mean about the what ifs! My daughter (29) was so worried about possible complications that I agreed to wait a year and go on one more diet!!! I wish I would have went forward bc that diet, just like all the others, failed. I know I need this surgery and am happy to have a date, 7/10. It's really been a roller coaster of emotions, I think the hardest to cope with is the waiting!!! Take care, Jean
Hi July People
Like everyone else I'm anxiously waiting and scared and excited:angst: at the same time the 3rd of July will be here before I know it. Been reading a lot of posts and getting really inspired. As far as the last supper mode I have to go to a Japanese buffet soon i LOVE sushi and something tells me i won't be eating it for a long time ( but then again) Want to post some FAT pics but have'nt gotten there yet been avoiding the dreaded pics for years now so I have to get daughter to take some:barf: I guess that's alright though the after pics are the ones I'm looking forward to;-)
