Yeah, me neither. When Dr. Colella told me that, it all made sense. My weightloss ground to a halt when I started drinking drinks with carbs. I just never noticed the correlation before!

I found out that it was high-carb drinks that were doing it to me. I posted about it in my "answer to the plateau" post above.

I've been on a serious plateau for the last three months. Today I had a follow up appointment with my doctor. He told me that drinks with carbs are keeping me at minus 160 and holding! Apparently, after having RNY surgery, when carbs in liquid form hit the bloodstream, the body produces four times the amount of insulin it did pre-op. This causes "The Hunger(tm)" throughout the rest of the day. I never knew that glass of orange juice in the morning and an occasional beer or margarita would be sabotaging my weight loss attempts so badly! From now on, it is water, crystal light, diet pepsi, and an occasional Miller Light. I should be back on track in no time!

My surgeon told me that the weight loss would start to slow down now and I could expect to lose about 5-10 lbs. a month instead of 10 -15 like I was previously. I try not to sweat it because my clothes keep getting loose and I no longer have to take anything for diabetes or high blood pressure (I used to take insulin 4 times a day as well as oral meds.) so I am doing the happy dance. I am also twenty pounds to my surgeon's goal.

I went to Kohls and got some pants a few weeks back. They had them on sale. Well of course I went straight to the Women's section and couldn't find a 18 tall. I asked the lady there and she said to check in the Misses department. There they were. I couldn't believe that I was shopping in the Misses area. And to make it even better I got the pants for $2.00 less because they were considered Misses. That was an awesome moment for me.

It has been a long time. I was in a 28 as well 6 months ago and am now down 90 pounds and wearing a 16/18. It is a wonderful feeling. Inside and out. Anyway, Congrats to you. Oh, I noticed that we has surgery on the same day.

Thanks Mariah for the idea. I seem to have a problem with pepperoni and sausage too, actually sausage was the only thing I've ever dumped on. I'm not that much of a pizza fan that I really miss it, the girls had ordered one yesterday for lunch and I thought I'd give it a try, it sounded good. My little Hiltler pouch is keeping me in line in it's own way!
