Hijack! - I just wanted to tell you that I've started looking for your posts on Fridays! I get ideas about new things to eat and it's great seeing how everyone is doing. I even picked up some yogurt from Trader Joe's. I used to eat it all the time and had forgotten about it. It is awesome!

1. What types of food did you eat this week? Shrimp, turkey meatballs, chili, cheese, the insides of a chicken quesadilla, blackberries, watermelon, grilled veggies, salads and my favorite new find - Nonfat Greek style yogurt (20 grams of protein in a cup)! I can only eat 1/2 a cup at a time, it's very filling.
2. What types of exercise did you do this week? Not a whole lot, walking.
3. How much weight did you lose? 5 lbs. Total loss? 162 pounds gone forever!
4. What was your biggest challenge? Not drinking enough water.
5. Have you had any WOW moments lately? Just reaching 160 pounds gone in less than 10 months is a WOW for me, but I have had many more people walk right past me this week, not realizing it was me, and then them being absolutely amazed when I spoke to them. It's been a great week.
*Fun bonus question:
Since it is Mother's Day weekend, do you have any plans? I'm having both sides the family over for Mother's Day brunch, I'm doing all the cooking, hubby will be doing the cleaning!
If you have no children, do you plan on having any? No children for me, I'm 45, soon to be 46 in a few weeks and that part of wanting is non longer for me, we're having too much fun with life ... selfish? Maybe, but that's the stage of life I'm in.
I do have a 26 year old stepson, and we're going to be Grandparents again in November! So I'll have a baby to hold and cuddle soon.

Congrats, Maria! Sounds like you are right on schedule and doing very well. It's so exciting when we get into lower sizes. I started at 300 and I'm sitting at 201 and I'm 5'11 1/2 [I'm shrinking]. My doctor's goal for me is 180, my goal is 169. So I've still got another 20 - 30 pounds to drop. The standard for my height is 155, but that is WAY too skinny for this girl. I just want to be HEALTHY. All our body styles are different, so you just have to see how you feel when you get there. Keep on working at it, you'll be there in no time!

1. What types of food did you eat this week? The usual suspects. I tried a new weird dip that included Lump Crab and Alligator with cream cheese and spinach.
2. What types of exercise did you do this week? Not a whole lot, I have Volleyball for 2 hours on Wednesday and did a lot of walking while shopping. Still no gym, gotta change soon.
3. How much weight did you lose? Total loss? Didn't lose anything, been up and down 2 pounds, sitting at 201 this morning.
4. What was your biggest challenge? Not getting enough exercise.
5. Have you had any WOW moments lately?
*Fun bonus question:
Since it is Mother's Day weekend, do you have any plans? If you have no children, do you plan on having any? I believe most doctor's say to wait 18 months after surgery, what do you think?
Have a great weekend,
Amber

Maybe I'm very lucky in the relationship I have with my Mom but I always tell her what I think, just as she always tells me what she's thinking.
She buys crap (candy, cookies, chips) and keeps it in her house saying it's for my 6 year old niece, or my brother. Well, my brother could lose 75+ pounds, and he's diabetic as is my Mom, and my niece doesn't need it or she'll end up like all of us. I give her a hard time constantly. She goes with me to all my follow up appointment and knows what I can and can't eat. She slowly starting to get healthier snacks.
She went with me to my 9 month appointment on Monday, and when she heard I'd lost 160 pounds, she cried. On the way home she actually told me she never thought I'd do it, that she's very proud of me.
I say speak up, tell your Mom that you appreciate her thoughtfulness, but the shirt was way too big. Sit her down and tell her you can't eat those bad things anymore, and your going to make that goal, you've made up your mind and your not letting anything stop you. Unless you speak up she'll never know what your thinking, and you'll be miserable stewing over it all. Life is way too short to be unhappy!

Hang in there! I know that when I was at my grandma's house for the holidays she kept trying to feed me all those things too. It's a way of life for her...the way she shows love (through food). I just politely declined and tried to remember that I had this surgery for me and that my family and friends won't/can't change...nor should they have too. Heck, when my husband and I were still together (read bio if you want the details) he would ask me if I wanted things I couldn't/shouldn't have...and he lived with my choices every day! I think it's habit for some, and jealousy for others...either way, so not your problem.
Don't let her get to you....you CAN reach your surgeon's goal. You ARE looking wonderful (I'm sure!). You CAN eat healthy even when faced with the choices she wants you to make....just say no thank you and be done with it!!
Vent away....but also be encouraged...You CAN and WILL be healthy and happy at goal!!!
